confinement until after the trial.
Don't know who it was because I was listening on TuneIn and didn't catch the entire discussion.
There was one person saying Merchan won't jail trump for violation of the gag order because it would delay the trial.
But another lawyer said Merchan can impose jail time - the amount and time of which would be determined at the end of the trial and time would be served after the trial, or even while the jury is deliberating.
This could be left hanging out there. So if trump keeps violating the gag order, he would know that Merchan is taking it into consideration when making a final determination of the jail time for the violations.
Reminder not to get trapped in "either or" thinking
Seems like many students are thinking that unless they camp out and get expelled, they are not supporting Gaza.
This is "either or" thinking. That there are only 2 options. Wrong - there are infinite options.
Just want to remind any who might be reading this that there are an unlimited number of ways to support Gaza that do not involve you getting kicked out of school, breaking your parents' hearts, wasting a few hundred thousand dollars, and wrecking your future.
Finish your education - and support Gaza, by speaking, letter writing, marching, raising and donating money, volunteering, lobbying elected officials, educating the media, running for office yourself... so many things you could be doing that are not counter-productive. If you can't be at school, then take a deferment in a way that doesn't destroy your ability to return.
I'm going to have to agree with the schools that camping perpetually in the middle of campus is not the answer. It is not safe for you or for the campus in general. I don't see why everyone become so fixated on this as being the only way.

For example, flooding the ballot with multiple initiatives that set all kinds of different abortion-ban timeframes.
Then another initiative to screw with judicial interpretation - passing a constitutional amendment saying that the legislature's restrictions on abortion must be respected by the courts.
So the court could be faced with a constitutional amendment enshrining the right to abortion - and another constitutional amendment saying that the legislature has a right to restrict abortion. Just pure fuckery.

Arizona GOP strategy document implores party to show 'Republicans have a plan' on abortion
The presentation lays out a menu of GOP options on abortion policy after a state Supreme Court ruling upheld a near-total abortion ban in Arizona law.

The document also advises Republican lawmakers to choose titles for their "Phase 1" measures along the lines of “Protecting Pregnant Women and Safe Abortions Act,” the “Arizona Abortion and Reproductive Care Act" and the “Arizona Abortion Protection Act."
