I like to watch you tube videos for a year or so now on my iPad. it has always bugged me that I have to sit through ads if I am busy and can't press the skip but oh well nothing I can do about that. But for a week now a couple of commercials I realized there is no skip button and I have to listen to the entire ad ! The one I just watched and inspired me to write this was like three minutes long about a porch camera. I tried several things and the only way out is to close you tube completely and start over. I could not minimize and everything I did to the screen was inactive unless I closed it with the home button. I am hoping there is a way to stop this if not I may just quit you tube even though I find interesting stuff to watch . But just enduring ads is not worth it to me. Another question is is this even legal? The buttons and screen are rendered completely inactive !?! thank you advance to anybody who knows a way around this.
I need to understand this better, Why are there still members of the house still in office?
We know from early reporting after Jan 6 that the fake electors presented their ballots and there was a process that was used to contest the real ballots and put a delay on the results of the election.
My question is, why can't we just round up these people and start a trial now ? I understand that Jack Smith is conducting a trial/investigation on the whole thing with all the participants of Jan 6. I am talking about just charging the participants of the crimes committed by our own legislators . The actual people that were trying the change the results of the election. The crime that was committed right in front of us! Jordan and Hawley and Biggs, Loudermouth, Flynn and others. Leaving them in place is just causing very long term damage. They are constantly trying to change public opinion and subvert the current administration.
The other day, after Smirnov was caught lying Jordan continued to say that there was more to investigate. I found myself yelling at the tv! Jordan is one of the instigators/participants!!!! Why can't we prosecute the main players in a public trial like Watergate? Who cares if its a election year. I don't care if there is immunity being a legislator. This was treason. Immunity goes out the window when you commit certain crimes IMHO. Would it screw up the Jack Smith trial ? I don't think it would. It would show the world our justice system is working. Right now we are completely stuck seemingly not able to go forward or backwards. I don't want this to just sound like venting or frustration I am asking a real question here. Are there legal reasons why these treasonist's can just continue on like nothing happened ?
An idea for what to do with Classic cars
So I am a car guy. I have a bunch of them. my wife tolerates them very well. All British some are just parts some are finished restored. I have a old mini that is literally thousands of hours worth of work.
I see the writing on the wall. We are transitioning to electric and even I approve of it. There will be a time (soon) where just starting a gasoline internal combustion engine will be offensive to some. I could try and do a electric conversion but really I have a fondness for reciprocating parts.
What about Alcohol ? I could do a conversion to my MG that only gets a couple hundred mile a year at the most. Ten gallons. it could be 20 dollars a gallon. That's still only a couple hundred dollars. From what I understand alcohol is a 9 to one mixture I am sure I could convert a carb to work and do the distributer modifications. I would like to think that this is a good idea since it would keep the cars running but you could still enjoy how a classic car drives. Yes I understand that it's still burning a fuel but I do know its a lot cleaner than gasoline. tell me what you think ! Your my test subjects. Hydro
Government stewardship (New to me)
Driving home Npr (the daily) is on and I was thinking that this episode would be boring since it wasn't about Trump. Then a timid voice a environmental lawyer I think she was. Started talking about the concept of environmental responsibility and stewardship by the government. Its been a long time since I heard someone so clear and on point. I loved it and I thought I would bring it up here incase someone knows of a source to start reading up on this.
Is this really how we want our government to be ?
Something I have been thinking about for a while now. Is this how we want things to be? The Republicans are allied to the rich, Are terrorizing the population. All legislation is stopped by the Republicans.
I am talking about why do we even deal with a party like this? Can we just refuse to deal with them anymore and tell them to go away. Get another party that is not corrupt, Is not aligned with fascists. This situation is just terrible.
I don't want to just complain, I am wanting to hear actual ways that we could just send the republicans on their way. Turn our backs to them when they speak. Walk out of the room. Interrupt them when they repeat a lie. Have a weekly Democrat support gathering at local city hall supporting the local liberal policymakers? Can we help the dems in red states in ways that are not clear now.
I read that the majority of damage done by the tea party was done with just a hundred people. What if there were thousands of dems that committed to outdo the tea party but for good instead of evil? Thank you
What exactly is happening with the Jack Smith trial ?
Hello. 60 yr old machinist here so I wasn't paying as much attention in civics class as I should have. Although I seem to know way more than the younger guys at work. When I was 10 or 12 the Watergate hearings were on at my grandmothers house constantly, seemed like a year or more. The defendants were questioned and cross examined. people went to jail. What I want to know is why we don't see these trials today and where is the reporting coming from are there members of the press in the courtroom? Is jack Smith just going to make recommendations for prosecution and the real hearing is later? The big question I want to know is Jack Smith capable of putting Trump and or members of congress in actual jail?
How to indent or start a paragraph in DU
Hello, Semi functioning Boomer here. Problem is when composing a message I can't press return because it will submit the post instead of indenting for a new paragraph. My posts always are a single paragraph. It is only in DU as far as I can tell. My stereo forum functions correctly and I can indent. MacBook Pro Catalina 10.15.7
What happened and the result
Hello, Growng up I had a lot of ear infections and we were on welfare in the seventies. I heard a lot of music then as my father had a huge quadraphonic stereo. I remember the Akai reel to reel he brought back from Viet nam. I never could understand the lyrics of songs very well but nevertheless I enjoyed the music. Getting to my mid 50's I went to the ear doctor. To make a long story short he said he could fix the hearing in my right ear with a operation. So afterwards my hearing was completely fixed but I had trouble understanding some people and words at times. It turns out my brain had to relearn sounds and the garbled sounds went away after a few months. It was a revelation I thought I knew what stereo was but did not understand that sound converged in the middle of your head with some sounds coming from one side or the other. I wanted to get a good stereo for our new house and a console was the way to match the 1954 MCM house we love. I got several as time went on and currently my favorite is the 1960 Magnavox Concert grand. A beast of a unit with a two mono amps with 42 tubes and a total of 100 watts. I like to show people this beautiful instrument with the song ride my seesaw by the moody blues or teen spirit by Nirvana. Go to the doctor, miracles can occur. I would like to participate in the live event during the hearings
Problem is I am a boomer and I can't remember where I saw the notice to join in on the streaming. I thought it was here but not sure. jan6 justice I thought? If you have a thought or know somewhere. I prolly won't post but I would like to see what people are thinking during/after the hearing.
iPad, iMac. volume shuts off!
spent the whole afternoon unsuccessfully trying to fix the volume shutting off in Ipad and IMac the I Mac is old but up to date the iPad I got for Christmas should be all good. We stream from YouTube tv for News and I have prime video for a couple of shows also you tube on safari pretty much boomer ability. Meaning not that good with technology. Cleared cache and history from iPad. looked for the side mute toggle button but can't find it. Screens dont look like mine on tutorials. Would be a week or more before my wife's tech friend could look at it. I thought I would ask you guys. Safari 15.2 in iMac The iPad doesn't have a taskbar to be able to look up what's in it. Both are synched so the problem is the same on both of them. Sometimes 1 minute sometimes 10 but volume will shut off Hydro
