Upstate voters are sending former Sen. Lee Bright back to the General Assembly, and, well, that’ll fix everything.
Except, of course, all those things that South Carolina actually needs to fix.
See, there has been a slew of legislative special elections around the state in recent weeks, with more to come, and the voting has been nothing if not predictable.
In the Midlands, folks chose to replace an admitted pedophile with a conservative pastor … over a retired Army colonel. In addition to Bright, Upstate voters elected a candidate best-known for her crusade to save women’s sports from the allegedly widespread, yet oddly undocumented, problem of transgender people switching sexes to better compete in high school sports.

Immigration officers detain Iowa school superintendent.
The superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools, Ian Roberts, was detained Friday for being in the US illegally. A final order of removal was issued against him last year and he had no work authorization. Roberts was found in possession of a loaded gun, a hunting knife, and $3K in cash after fleeing from immigration officers during a traffic stop. Roberts, who was born in Guyana and had entered the US in 1999 on a student visa, had led the Des Moines school district since 2023.

MAGA encounter at the gas station
I stopped to fill my car tonight ahead of the incoming tropical storm/hurricane. Hoping only TS.
Never the less, filled up ahead of time, need full tank.
I was standing there pumping gas, overheard some calling someone a b***h. Shortly a momma van pulls up to the pump opposite where I was and the old man jumps out and starts cussing up a storm. I glanced and noticed the red hat. This clown goes into a belligerent rant about this being his third pump and the b inside keeps shutting his pump off, saying she didn’t like his hat.
I looked at him and had a big grin on my face and said, well, that might tell you something about that hat.
Turned around got in my car, drove away laughing my butt off.

I always listen to Classic Vinyl or Classic Rewind on my 2 hour commute. You get to know a bit about the DJs along the way.
So tonight as I cruise along listening to Classic Vinyl between 5 and 6 pm eastern, the DJ comes on and is listing off upcoming concerts. After listing a weekend show in Chicago he says, we will have to see what happens with that show after the recent announcement. Followed by a geesh!
Never actually called out the coming invasion, but made it very clear how he felt.

Feeding the conspiracy theorist
I work with a MAGA bot that insisted one day that schools were changing boy into girls. Even with my questions about where they were doing these surgeries, the shop, the science room or tha cafeteria.
That was a in January. Fast forward to this week. On Monday, I am having an implant inserted in my chest to monitor my heart. I was telling people at work that I needed to get chipped on Monday and not certain I would be in that day.
I told the guy believing in the school transformations that the reason I was getting chipped was because I said the cyber truck was an ugly dumpster. I said don’t say anything bad about Elon.
He actually believed me.
