Bee and Butterflies

There was a lot of shade when I noticed the Black Swallowtail out on my Lantana at the end of June. Not many blacks visit my yard and when they do, rarely stay put long enough to get a shot. I got ONE of this guy. Coleus in the background.



There were TWO Yellow Swallowtails out among the 'Ming Toy' day lilies. Although they landed on the same flower several times, I wasn't quick enough to get a shot of them together. One shot looks like a Butterfly in Bloom.





And, finally, a bee among the Lantana.

New UNC Board of Governors headed by 3 women

being touted for historic leadership. The real story is that they found three Republican women to take the positions, including an African American woman.

Voter registration is public information in NC. If someone is registered unaffiliated, you can still see which ballot the individual chose for a primary election.

Three women means nothing if they support a political party that denies women control of their own bodies.

Friday afternoon cocktails

Why wait for 5 o'clock? It's five somewhere, right? I'm sitting on my covered porch. Listening to cicadas. Watching them fly through the yard and land...at my feet or in the patio furniture. They have a 17 year life cycle. It hit me: in all likelihood I will not be alive when they return in 2041. I'm 73.

So, I'm having that cocktail at 4 pm, instead of 5.

Camouflage

Sitting on my covered porch just now and saw the Yarrow move. I've had a rabbit and went to see if it was lurking. Nope. Just a green anole.
