in a few weeks for a wedding. I hate to have to say this, but we’re white and I know that confers privilege to us. Should I get a burner phone for the trip in case I’m stopped at the airport or elsewhere?

Has anyone had success housetraining a puppy using outside as the primary potty spot
and then using some sort of potty space (pee pad with tray on deck or in the garage) without encouraging in-home accidents or thwarting success?
We're picking up our dog in a week, who is about 4 months, and will be potty training outside, but I'd love to have the option of having her use something more sheltered in case of bad weather.

Gerry Connolly has died.
Washington — Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia died Wednesday, his family announced. He was 75 years old.
Connolly's death comes weeks after he announced that he would not seek reelection in 2026 and would be stepping back from his post as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee because his cancer had returned.
"It is with immense sadness that we share that our devoted and loving father, husband, brother, friend, and public servant, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family," Connolly's family announced in a statement.
Connolly, a Democrat, has represented Virginia's 11th Congressional District, which covers parts of the region outside of Washington, D.C., since 2009. He announced in November that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and would be undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Virtual Town Hall with Sen. Whitehouse
I just finished listening to his meeting with Gov. O’Malley. They think Doge and Trump are trying to make SS so inefficient by firing people that they break it so they can “fix” (pillage) it.
In the question and answer period, Sen. Whitehouse said that there’s a reason why a shutdown isn’t desirable and that’s because even more damage can be brought upon governmental agencies by Trump during a shutdown. He said while the Republicans are publicly saying they don’t want a shutdown, privately he’s not so sure Trump isn’t waiting it to grasp even more control.
Lastly, he said if you or your family have already been affected by DOGE actions, send your Senators the story - the human face on all this mayhem is important for them to know and mention publicly. .

I’m aghast and heartbroken.
I am in a constant state of rage and dread.
I can’t prove it, but I believe it.
Musk stole this election when votes were uploaded via satellite to tabulate. He couldn’t deliver Virginia for Trump because of the way we vote, but states with no random audits and paper ballots (Virginia has both) were free for the taking.
I think Musk’s son is on the autism spectrum and/or is echolailic (repeats what he hears) and said “We’re in SpaceX and we quietly do just whatever we want.”
In early November, the kid said “they’ll never know” twice when a former Fox News host asked whether Donald Trump would win the election. And of course when he recently said, “You’re not the president.”
The kid is Musk’s human shield.
Putin helped with disinformation and bomb threats.
Social media, especially Facebook, was and still is releasing a flood of rightwing garbage - the more you hide and block, the more you get. The algorithm isn’t working the way you think it should.
States helped by voter suppression.
Trump is stuck. He’s an idiot but he can’t stop Musk even if he wants to because Musk holds the cards and the proof. I think Trump has dementia.
Republicans in Congress are paralyzed and scared shitless. They’re afraid of his followers and terrified for their lives and the lives of their families.
Trump was talking to Putin while not in office - I thought you weren’t allowed to do this.

As you can see, I’m becoming unhinged. I felt so good after seeing the protests, but I wish I saw a way out of this.
Seeing the protests across our country on Threads
makes today the first day since January 20 that I have felt the least bit positive.
