“…you know he can’t get elected, well, fuck them”
I think Susan Sarandons fuck them quote should be the new Bernie bumper sticker. It works on so many levels. To the millions of Americans who lose their health care next year because the Democrats ran someone (in the words of another entertainer, Larry David) So Far Left He Could Never Be Elected, we say: FUCK THEM!
The attacks I am seeing on Bernie Sanders are mostly practical in nature.
I love Bernie Sanders policies; I just dont think he has a team that can win in November. Being a good campaign manager is like being a good running back. It requires more than good intentions; it requires a will to win. Tad Devine is a running back that has never scored a touchdown. He has been given the ball on the one yard line twice (2000 and 2004), and he fumbled both times. I dont think any Democrat who wants to win in November is going to give him the ball again.
Tad Devine is a Republican Troll!
Tad Devine, the most effective troll in the history of the Republican Party, single handedly took away the Democratic White House in 2000 and 2004. Cant we stop listening to him in 2016? I dont even think he is a human being, he is just a robot controlled by the Koch brothers.
A vote for Bernie is a vote to keep the 5-4 Citizens United ruling in place for our great-grand-kids
Bernie Sanders and George McGovern are my two favorite American politicians. I agree with almost everything they have to say. Both have been unapologetic advocates of a kind of Democratic Socialism that would greatly improve this country if implemented. It was that unapologetic liberal advocacy that caused George to lose the Electoral College in 49 states in 72, and that guarantees Bernie will lose in 2016.
The best chance Democrats have to change the 5-4 Citizens United ruling, and lot of other issues of critical importance to Americas future, is to hold the White House for the next 8 years. Scalia and Kennedy will both be over 80 years old when the next president takes office, the chance that at least one will be replaced in the next eight years is very good. Either of these Republican plutocrats being replaced by Democratic nominee would lead to a reversal of Citizens United and many other unethical 5-4 Supreme Court rulings designed to pursue the Republican agenda of stabbing the middle class in the back and transferring their money to the richest 1%.
Sean Haugh ads
Does anyone know who is running all the vote Sean Haugh to legalize pot ads on youtube? I doubt Sean Haugh has the money to do it. I would bet it is some sort of GOP super PAC trying to take the youth vote away from Kay Hagen.
“Non-partisan” races
On NC ballots, looks like on most non-partisan races, like judges and board of elections, the Republican is listed first and the Democrat second. So a good rule of thumb (if you dont know who to vote for in one of those races), mark the second box and you will be picking the Democrat. This is apparently a result of a new rule passed by the GOP recently that makes the candidate of the party holding the Governors office first on the ballot.
Tell Senator Wesley Meredith (R-Cumberland) to Come Clean About Medicaid Fraud Allegations
Tell Senator Wesley Meredith (R-Cumberland) to Come Clean About Medicaid Fraud Allegations:
http://act.progressnc.org/sign/meredith_medicaid
Documents released this week, as reported by multiple media outlets, show evidence that the State Senator Wesley Meredith (R-Cumberland) and his wife collected tens of thousands of dollars in government Medicaid and WIC assistance at the same time that financial records show his family income was around $100,000/year. Ask Senator Meredith to come clean about his welfare assistance and repay the government if the funds were obtained through fraud.
North Carolina’s Affluenza Amendment
Last year, 16 year-old Ethan Couch slammed his Ford F-350 pickup truck into four pedestrians, killing Brian Jennings, a 43-year-old Baptist youth minister; Breanna Mitchell, 24; Shelby Boyles, 21; and her 52-year-old mother, Hollie Boyles. He was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit. Authorities said the teen and friends were seen on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a store a short time before.
Today, the future is looking bright for Ethan, thanks to his multi-millionaire Republican fund raising daddy. When Ethan was tried by Texas Republican Judge Jean Hudson Boyd, his attorney offered the Affluenza Defense, stating Ethan was just raised too rich to know it was wrong to kill poor people. Judge Boyd loved the defense, and gave Ethan no jail time.
Republican Speaker of the House Thom Tillis started salivating like Pavlovs dog as soon as he heard the Affluenza Defense bell ring. If kids of rich Republican donors can get away with murder in Texas, why not in North Carolina? Thom asked. So this fall, Tillis Republican NC Legislature have placed the Affluenza Amendment to the NC Constitution on the NC ballot. Rich Republicans facing felony charges can now forgo a pesky jury (that may be interested in justice or some such nonsense), and have their sentence handed down solely by a Republican Judge bought and paid for by rich Republican donors. And unlike most states that allow non-jury felony trails, North Carolina would not require the consent of the State Prosecutor. A Republican Judge and a Republican defendant are all that are needed to sign off on a jury-free trail. If the State Prosecutor feels a jury trial would better serve the interests of justice, there is nothing he can do to stop jury-free trail and the Affluenza Defense by a Republican Judge and a Republican defendant.
