CBS Cuts Trump's Corruption Tantrum From '60 Minutes' Edit

(Daily Beast) President Donald Trump’s angry response to a crypto corruption question shoehorned in at the end of his 60 Minutes interview was cut from the show’s final edit. CBS aired a 28-minute version of the Trump interview on TV, then released a 73-minute extended cut online, which was also shared by the White House’s RapidResponse 47 X account. The MAGA social media account claimed it was the “FULL” Trump interview that came “without the network’s edits and cuts.” However, while a tense exchange over crypto corruption with interviewer Norah O’Donnell featured as part of the full written transcript on the 60 Minutes Overtime site, it did not appear in any online video version.

Trump Doesn't Know Crypto King He Pardoned, Despite Previously Arguing Biden Pardons Should Be Void

(Mediaite) Donald Trump told 60 Minutes Sunday that he had no idea who cryptocurrency Binance founder “CZ” was, even though the president recently pardoned the billionaire. “He pled guilty in 2023 to violating anti-money laundering laws,” O’Donnell said of CZ, adding, “The government at the time said that CZ had caused ‘Significant harm to U.S. National security,’ essentially by allowing terrorist groups like Hamas to move millions of dollars around. Why did you pardon him?” “Okay, are you ready?” Trump said. “I don’t know who he is."

Some Head Start preschools shutter as government shutdown continues

(AP) The government shutdown is triggering a wave of closures of Head Start centers, leaving working parents scrambling for child care and shutting some of the nation’s neediest children out of preschool. Dozens of centers are missing out on federal grant payments that were due to arrive Nov. 1. Some say they’ll close indefinitely, while others are staying afloat with emergency funding from local governments and school districts. The closures mean Head Start students — who come from low-income households, are homeless or are in foster care — are missing out on preschool, where they are fed two meals a day and receive therapy vital to their development.

New CNN Poll: Trump 37% Approval to 63% Disapproval

(CNN) In a midterm election year, views of the president can outweigh perceptions of the opposition party. Trump’s approval rating in the poll stands at 37%, the worst of his second term in CNN polling and roughly equivalent to his 36% approval rating at this point in his first term. And his disapproval rating, at 63%, is numerically the highest of either term, one point above the previous high of 62% as he was leaving office in January 2021.

'They may be arrested': ICE makes startling admission on election monitoring operation

(Raw Story) With millions of voters expected to descend to the polls Tuesday in a series of off-year elections, including in California where voters will vote on a constitutional amendment to redraw the state’s congressional districts, the Trump administration made a startling admission regarding how its poll monitors may operate on Election Day. The Trump administration has deployed Justice Department officials to monitor elections in both California and New Jersey, citing allegations of election “irregularities” from Republican leadership in both states, a move that critics have labeled as blatant “voter intimidation.”

DNC chair defends party's redistricting push: This isn't 'your grandfather's Democratic Party that just rolled over'

(NBC News) Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin defended California’s redistricting efforts while criticizing Republicans’ own efforts as unconstitutional. “If they’re going to do this and continue doing this nonsense, which is unconstitutional and illegal, we’re going to be forced to do it ourselves in other states,” Martin said in an interview with NBC News, referencing GOP redistricting efforts.

Democratic voters say California's Prop 50 gives them a way to 'counteract' Trump

(NPR) Adelaide Stone Van Gessel says she doesn't agree with partisan gerrymandering in practice. But she voted yes on Proposition 50, a California ballot measure that would allow the state's Democratic leaders to temporarily bypass California's independent redistricting commission and enact a more Democratic-friendly congressional map ahead of next year's midterm elections. Van Gessel and others who back Prop 50 told NPR the proposal provides the Democratic-leaning state a rare opportunity to directly counteract President Trump and Republican efforts to redraw political maps in their favor in other states.

Donald Trump Suggests He Will Cut Down Funding to New York if Mamdani Wins

(Newsweek) U.S. President Donald Trump said New York City's federal funding would be at risk if it elects the democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor. Mamdani has campaigned on proposals he says would make the city more adorable, including free bus service, universal child care, and a rent freeze for stabilized apartments.

House Republicans exploring ways to prevent Mamdani from being sworn in as NYC mayor

(NY Post) House Republicans are exploring ways to prevent Zohran Mamdani from ever being sworn in as mayor even if he prevails in Tuesday’s election by using the Constitution’s “insurrection clause,” The Post has learned. The New York Young Republican Club is pushing to prevent the NYC mayoral frontrunner from taking the oath of office Jan. 1 under an idea floated this summer.

Trump's MRI scan raises specter of secrecy in presidential health

(The Hill) President Trump’s off-the-cuff disclosure that he underwent an MRI scan is raising fresh questions about the secrecy surrounding Trump’s health and the need for presidents to be more transparent. Trump is the oldest person to be elected president, and his aides and allies have long projected him as the picture of strength and vitality. Outside physicians initially raised questions after Trump visited Walter Reed Military Medical Center earlier this month for what the White House described as a routine follow-up visit, though it was his second visit in six months.
