So here's a question....

Say I'm just out of college or grad school and I apply for a teaching position at a public school. One of the interview questions is whether I am proficient with guns and, if not, would I be willing to be trained and carry one at school. I answer "no" and, despite my teaching qualifications, don't get the job. OR...

I am a seasoned teacher with 20 years of classroom experience. My contract is up and it is not renewed because I am unwilling to carry a gun and my school must "fill a quota."

This is what could happen if schools must fill a certain number of positions with people willing to carry, and use guns. A worse outcome would be if schools are forced to hire less than qualified people solely because they are willing to do this.

Maybe the brain in the WH has an answer.

There is only one word now to describe

the thoughts, words and deeds of this president, his henchmen and the Republican Party:

"heinous"

(of a person or wrongful act, especially a crime) utterly odious or wicked.
"a battery of heinous crimes"
synonyms: odious, wicked, evil, atrocious, monstrous, abominable, detestable, contemptible, reprehensible, despicable, egregious, horrific, terrible, awful, abhorrent, loathsome, hideous, unspeakable, execrable....

If anyone has a better one, let me know.

He didn't go to Florida this weekend...

yikes! I'm beginning to feel safer when he's on the golf course. Sad commentary on this Presidency.

Something to remember about these ex-wives...

I don't know about Sorensen's ex, but the other wives were approached by the FBI in connection with a background check. They didn't leak their stories or go to the tabloids, they responded truthfully to questions posed to them by the FBI. Keep this in mind when Trump and Company start calling this a witch hunt. FWIW.

My FBI/Ex-wife story

Many years ago, my ex-husband was nominated by the then president for a top federal job. One day I came home from work and found the business card of an FBI Agent on my front door with a note to call him. It was interesting to me (and a little bit creepy) that he had come to my home without calling me first. Anyway, the next day I called him back. He told me that he wanted to speak to me about my ex and that we could do it over the phone or in person. I opted for the phone. He asked me when and how long we had been married, how many children and other general background stuff. Then he got down to cases: had he ever abused me or my child; did he have money, drug or alcohol issues; what was the worst thing he had ever done to me. I answered no to all of the questions except the last one and I told him that I thought the question was very leading (I'm a lawyer, btw). I then told him that as far as I was concerned, my ex's appointment was an excellent one and the President would be glad he made it. The agent actually laughed and said that he very seldom had an interview with an ex-wife like this one.

In reading and seeing the account of Porter's ex-wives, I thought back to my interview and one thing is clear to me: in answering the agent's questions, I absolutely had to be honest, I had to tell the truth no matter what that brought. These women were under the same obligation and they did the right thing. These women were not giving gratuitous interviews to Doctor Phil. They were talking to the FBI.

Anyway, that's my story FWIW.

Joe Kennedy - going back in time.

Listening to him, I felt that I had been transported back in time 50 years. He's not as good an orator as JFK or RFK were but the substance was there and the speaking skill will come. Choosing Fall River MA was brilliant....my family immigrated from Ireland to Fall River...worked in the mills...their children became lawyers and judges. A fact about Joe...he started out as an Assistant DA in Barnstable County (Cape Cod) worked his way up. People who knew him then loved him.

"If there's an uproar in the kitchen, look in the library for bodies."

Agatha Christie. Not my discovery, just heard someone say this on MSNBC and I think she was right on regarding the Trump Uproar. This is all about Russia.

To my Alabama friends

Last time I looked, lust is one of the seven deadly sins...being a Democrat is not.
