Cliches are sometimes appropriate. It is clear, for example, that Kavanaugh "knows which

side his bread is buttered on" and, like him and Gorsuch, Barrett will be a "team player" and reliably "dance with them what brung her".

Hopefully, the "worm will turn" soon and it is proven that "what goes around comes around".

The "fat lady" had not yet sung.

Memo to those who feel defeated after the Barrett farce:

We can either react with despair---which will have those on The Dark Side high-fiving each other---or we can choose to channel all that pain into being royally pissed off.

Pissed off is better. Pissed off gets us off our asses and out putting hand-lettered signs in our front yard; going on-line to send some Democrat another $10; wearing our Biden/Harris caps and tees out where they will be seen; calling everyone we think we might influence and urge them to vote for the Biden/Harris ticket and on down the ballot.

Get pissed off, ok? Help us recover.

It is my understanding that in contract law the "mail box rule" or "posting rule" provides that an

acceptance of an offer is effective WHEN PROPERLY ADDRESSED AND POSTED ( MAILED ), regardless of when it is actually received.

Within some reasonable time period---14 days?---ballots should be treated the same way.

The George W. Bush administration gave us the phrase "shock and awe". I think the

Biden administration should give the GOP a demonstration of it.

If we win a trifecta, as I believe we will, we should leap into action while the salt of the Barrett confirmation and the stacking of the federal judiciary with unqualified ideologues is still stinging in the nation's fresh wounds.

We should appoint additional justices to the SCOTUS and create additional federal circuits with new seats to fill. Joe should have a short list for new SCOTUS Justices by inauguration day. ( Merrick Garland? )

We should move to confer statehood on Puerto Rico and D.C.

We should mandate masks and social distancing and create a governors' commission to mandate business and school closings on a state by state basis BASED ON SCIENCE.

We should rejoin the Paris Accord and make a national commitment to wean off fossil fuels in the foreseeable future.

We should enact a federal voting statute that abolishes the Electoral College, makes federal election days national holidays and standardizes ballot forms, voting by mail, early voting and polling place availability.

That's just a start. My primary point is that WE ACT. We need to ANNOUNCE what we are doing rather PROPOSE what we want to do. In short, we should be just as "bipartisan" as McConnell would be.

Can we talk across the aisle? Sure. Can we consider their ideas and concerns? Of course. But, what's that phrase they used to explain Trump and McConnell's obscene rape of our democratic system? Oh, yeah-----

"ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!"

In "Breaking News", a poll just conducted by "Wachawunnit2say Polling and Creative Image Crafters"

indicates that the presidential race is "closer than anyone's ever seen". They show Sleepy Joe Biden just barely edging President Trump: 50.01% to 49.99%. ( The margin of error is 27.6% )

The poll was conducted today between 1:00 pm and 1:17 pm Eastern near a bodega in Baltimore and surveyed over two dozen apparent adults.

Ms Barrett was chosen by billionaires to squat on the SCOTUS because she is eager to take

healthcare from millions, kill laws and regulations that prevent pollution of our air and water, greenlight discrimination against anyone not a white "Christian" heterosexual male and drastically suppress voting for those who are not "right-thinking". AND-----

McConnell and the rest of the Republican members of the Trump thugocracy are "PROUD" of cramming her down the throats of over 70% of American citizens!!!

We may not have fallen into the abyss yet, but we are sure as hell staring down into it!

So, if a person gives orders or takes actions, other than in a war-time context, which he or

she knows will result in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent U.S. citizens---is there still a law against that?

October 26, 2020

I hope we can avoid the "Well, we fixed that!" attitude WHEN we elect Biden/Harris.

Our job as citizens continues---in some regards BEGINS---with a new administration. And, there are no "silver bullets"; there are no obvious easy remedies for what is afflicting us.

This new administration will begin the long, gradual, sometimes painful process of restoring integrity and trust and caring to our government. They will need our support and involvement. Let's do this, ok?

October 25, 2020

Adding Justices to the SCOTUS will not be "stacking the Court"; it will be

"RESTORING" the Court.

The transparent partisan hypocrisy of the Barrett farce, on top of the theft of Garland's seat and the publicly painful confirmation of a sexual assailant,---all during the illegitimate "administration" of a madman---robbed the nation's highest court of any confidence in its ability---or desire---to render impartial justice.

A failure to quickly restore the Court by appointing and confirming Justices who are clearly in the mainstream of public sentiment will see one of our three branches wither into total irrelevancy.

(through clenched teeth!) WHY should anyone willing to appear on TV and boast that they

voted for IT in 2016, will vote for him again next week and "agrees with him 100%" be permitted to drive, operate machinery, own a firearm or walk among us without restraints and a minder?

( I scrapped the first two versions of this! )
