seriously people. prison rape is not funny. quit w the damn jokes.

i've seen 5 today.
i'm an old mod w some frustration w the jury system. i've seen how hard it is to come up w clear rules around here, which is why they are kinda vague.
i've alerted on them in the past, and too often seen them stand.

i do wish it was an explicit rule, but it pains me that there is anyone who thinks those jokes are funny.
.
just stop it.
please.

hey there pros. who wants a job?

so, i've made a few posts here about tracing my tree.
it's been fun and i've found a lot of info. certainly enough to apply for my irish passport, which was my alleged purpose.

so far it has been fits and starts, and mostly just what ancestry and myheritage come up with.
i'd like to take it to the next level. i dont have time.

i'd like to know more than births and deaths. i know there's info out there, but a lot of it is paywalled.
ie-i've found the last folks to come from ireland, but so far havent tripped over the 1st.
i'd like to track down some local spots, like my mom's cousin's lake house and my dad's family's hardware store.

i'm planning to go in the near future, and think i will book a 'heritage tour'. so, looking for spots.
houses arent hard, but farms and businesses would be the real jewels, i think.

i have a good size tree on myheritage, and a small 1 on ancestry. have several relatives there tho. have a bit on familysearch.
ondoutside dug up quite a bit of info for me, too.

always happy to pay for what i get.
drop me a pm if interested, please.

how's this for a marker of whether or not you need to restrict voting?

when you have more votes than voters. period.

the turn out in this country is a clear indicator that we OUGHT to make it easier to vote.
listening to one of the tx dems on velshi, and he mentioned that 60% of drive-thru voters were women, and that many had kids in car seats.

i never found it difficult to vote. but when my kids were small, it was a thing that took juggling.
and i remember all too well how hard it was to juggle some days.
if it had meant the kind of ordeal for me that it is for toooo many in this country, i'm not sure i would have voted in almost every damn election in my lifetime.

last year i did a drop box. i do like stepping up to that booth, but i def appreciated taking my time. i'll do it again, esp when it's a long ballot.

but those usual turn out numbers, compared to how many risked their lives, stood in long lines and otherwise went to great lengths to be counted this time tells me there is much to be done to make this a modern democracy that actually represents everyone.
we are far from a perfect union.

has anyone used task rabbit or similar apps?

it rly is hard to get workers for my rental properties.
i'm havin hella time getting contractors, but even just cleaners and such seems impossible.
i called a friend who has a business in the hood, and knows everyone.
her- i'm stuck doing that stuff myself. i'm about to die.

the only one i know by name is task rabbit, but i know there are others.

recs?

it's always darkest before the dawn.

umm, actually, no.
it's darkest at the midpoint between dusk and dawn.
the sun does not pop up in the midst of the midnight sky.

so why the hell is this an accepted cliche?
i just heard someone say this on the rachel, and i just cant.

does anyone know anything about renewable funding in the infra bill?

i just got a new solar array. not running yet, but any day.

i own another building, and plan to do that one too.
i did get state and local credits, and they worked fine for me. but if there is more money coming, i need that info to figure this out.

i know nothing is final, but what is proposed, and esp effective dates, would be helpful.

wild hair thought.

when are the medical tech whizzes gonna figure out that we could use a machine that images our whole OUTSIDE?

like many old irishmen, i have had 1 skin cancer removed, and have to get yearly exams at the dermatologist.
i dont mind, as i have a crush. about my age, barely 5', veinnese. we had the nicest chat while he dug a small thing out of my arm. it was right in a tat, but you would never know.
trouble is, apparently there is a shortage of dermos. it's the kind of appt that you have to make on the way out of the office.

but it occurs to me that a scanning machine could spot color and temperature variations that a human eye might even miss. or it could penetrate a few mm to see the full dermis.

anyone who wants to steal this idea, please do.
so far they are slow growing. but...

from the medical mysteries column of wapo-

how to avoid becoming a medical mystery, and all i can say it- boy howdy.

i am a multi-generational medical mystery.
we know i have a bad case of shogren's, as did my da. but i had to fight for that for years because of 1 anomalous test result.
2 of my 3 daughters are also mysteries. there are similarities as well as differences.

tho cancer took my da at 63, this shit put out his very bright light long before that.
i'll be 67 in a few weeks, so i am ahead of the game so far.
but i am truly sick of this half life.
