Secretary of Defense James Mattis has asserted that climate change is real, and a threat to American interests abroad and the Pentagons assets everywhere, a position that appears at odds with the views of the president who appointed him and many in the administration in which he serves.
Climate change is impacting stability in areas of the world where our troops are operating today, Mattis said in written answers to questions posed after the public hearing by Democratic members of the committee. It is appropriate for the Combatant Commands to incorporate drivers of instability that impact the security environment in their areas into their planning.
"Climate change is a challenge that requires a broader, whole-of government response. If confirmed, I will ensure that the Department of Defense plays its appropriate role within such a response by addressing national security aspects."
You give us Justin Trudeau and you can have Oklahoma and Texas
The same deal goes for England, France, Brussels, and Germany too.

Donald Trump offered an insight into his approach to political life during his 30 hours in Belgium while munching lots of Belgian chocolates, it has been reported.
Le Soir, a Belgian daily newspaper, reported that the US president acclaimed the chocolates, which were a gift from the Belgian government, during a meeting with the countrys prime minister, Charles Michel.
A second source told the newspaper: Every time we talk about a country, he remembered the things he had done. Scotland? He said he had opened a club. Ireland? He said it took him two and a half years to get a licence and that did not give him a very good image of the European Union. One feels that he wants a system where everything can be realised very quickly and without formalities.
The paper reports: Donald Trump had no idea of the economic weight of Belgium and even less of what the country represents for trade with the United States. Then he was introduced to the thing in a very visual way. But the president only gave vague attention to it.

Oh for the love of dog please make it stop. Chocolates, golf, shoving people, insulting the
Germans, and treating NATO countries like they owe back rent.
Fox News Channel lent support to its best-known anchor Sean Hannity, saying Friday that the popular host would return to its air next week following a Memorial Day holiday vacation an effort to tamp down speculation that a controversy currently enveloping Hannity could escalate further.
Like the rest of the country, Sean Hannity is taking a vacation for Memorial Day weekend and will be back on Tuesday, the 21st Century Fox-owned network said in a statement. Those who suggest otherwise are going to look foolish.
Hannity has become embroiled in a furor over his recent promotion of a widely discredited story about the death last summer of Seth Rich, a DNC staffer who was murdered in Washington, D.C. last July in what local police have stated they believe is a botched robbery. Hannity has in recent days promoted an unproven theory that Rich was killed in exchange for providing internal documents to Wikileaks, prompting statements of outrage from the Rich family.
On Tuesday, Fox News said it had retracted a story, published on FoxNews.com, about Richs murder believed to be one of the first times the news outlet has withdrawn an article over its more than 20-year history. The killing remains unsolved and right-leaning press outlets such as Breitbart and The Drudge Report have in posts and links bolstered the wild conspiracy. Hannity continued to promote the theory about Rich on his Tuesday radio show, noting that this issue is so big now that the entire Russia collusion narrative is hanging by a thread.
My Son (now 22) turned off the TV and his cell phone too and went out and
built a little campfire in the fire pit and got out the outdoor lounge chair
and then took our black lab out to sit with him by the fire.
He just asked if I wanted to come sit by the fire w/him.
Guess Rachel M. can do her show without me.
Remember too that the French warned us about unkown and unforseen "blowback"
from invading Iraq and the republicans and Fox News responded w/freedom fries.
Tony Blair is right: without the Iraq war there would be no Islamic State
Proposed cuts in President Donald Trump's 2018 budget for HHS would reduce funding for rural hospitals and hurt the supply pipeline for black and Hispanic healthcare professionals. The budget proposal targets several rural hospital grants in its projected cuts. 1) ISIS was created by bush & Cheney's unneeded war in Iraq.
2) The country that spends the most to support ISIS is Saudi Arabia.
