What appears to have been Russian hackers compromised the website of the 8th Congressional District Democratic Party as well as the sites of seven county Democratic party organizations, said Mary Ginnebaugh, who chairs the congressional district as well as the Brown County Democratic parties.
Russian hackers have been accused on the national level with interfering with the U.S. presidential election by getting into the Democratic National Committee’s website as well as that of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington.
While no one can prove beyond doubt that Russians also were involved in the local hack job, two hackers left “calling cards” with Russian email addresses on the local websites in an apparent gesture of contempt or braggadocio, Ginnebaugh said. Green Bay police were notified and have forwarded information to the FBI, she said.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is probing Israeli businessman Joel Zamel after it was revealed he met with Donald Trump Jr. prior to the 2016 presidential election, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The Journal reviewed a subpoena regarding Zamel's work, including his crowdsourced analysis firm known as Wikistrat and a private intelligence firm known as the Psy Group.

The Psy Group reportedly conducts private intelligence work and is a competitor of Israeli intelligence firm Black Cube, which is linked to filmmaker Harvey Weinstein who reportedly used the firm to block investigations into his alleged sexual abuses.

The group also touted its "strong operating capabilities within the ‘Deep Web’ and Darknet (often referred to as the ‘Dark Side’ of the Internet),” the Journal reported.

WASHINGTON -- After setting up a meeting with Russian agents to discuss what he thought would be incriminating information on Hillary Clinton in June 2016, Donald Trump Jr. made an 11-minute phone call to a blocked phone number, according to a transcript of his interview with Senate investigators released Wednesday.
Trump Jr. says he can't remember who he spoke to that night. But his father, now President Trump, used a blocked phone number at his home at the time, according to former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
At a rally the next day, the presidential candidate alluded to information his campaign was gathering on Hillary Clinton. He said he was planning to give a "major speech" the following week "discussing all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons," he said.
"I think you're going to find it very informative and very, very interesting," Trump said. "I wonder if the press will want to attend, who knows."
