BOSTON (SHNS) – A total of 15,739 breakthrough COVID-19 infections in people fully vaccinated against the virus have now been recorded in Massachusetts, the Department of Public Health reported Tuesday.
The new total, as of Aug. 21, represents an increase of 3,098 from the previous week’s report and accounts for 0.35 percent of the more than 4.4 million fully vaccinated Bay Staters. Of those 15,739 cases, 571 people have been hospitalized and 131 have died…….
In the previous week, breakthrough cases represented 40 percent of the total. The DPH has cautioned that there are probably more breakthrough infections and hospitalizations among fully vaccinated people than it counts and can report.

SANTA FE – The more contagious COVID-19 variant flooding New Mexico is reaching vaccinated residents, not just the unvaccinated.
In fact, fully vaccinated individuals made up 19% of new COVID-19 infections and 13% of hospitalizations in a recent four-week period, according to a Journal analysis of state data……
• People not fully vaccinated made up about 87% of COVID-19 hospitalizations, or 644 of 742 hospitalized patients. (An internal estimate by the state put the figure at 86%, Morgan said.)
• Fully vaccinated individuals made up 13% of the COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Israel launches Covid antibody tests for children as young as 3
Israel on Sunday launched antibody testing for children aged as young as three, seeking information on the number of unvaccinated youths who have developed protection against coronavirus ahead of the new school year. ….
The national serological survey is focused on pupils between the ages of three and 12 who are not yet eligible for the jab, nearly 1.5 million children.
It is aimed at discovering how many children developed strong antibody protection against coronavirus after having an unrecorded or latent case, according to the education ministry.
Those children with sufficient antibodies will not be forced to quarantine when exposed to a COVID patient, a move aimed at limiting school-year disruptions.

Consumers know the names of U.S.-based brands, which are now as desirable for some upper class Mexicans as hard-to-find Nike shoes or a new Supreme hoodie. Almost any product made for a U.S. consumer base can be found in Mexico at a premium. Marijuana is no different.
