Very thoughtful, lumberjack_jeff, presents a different viewpoint, Shows time and effort.

This video made me cry, but that doesn't mean that the people that made the video are great.

It means they make great videos.

This was posted on You Tube on December 13..right around Christmas. ...a giving season... I love this video and it is a tear jerker, but the above post does ask honest questions. How many pets do they save a year? How to adopt. I have a moment of suspicion about this.

This sentence from the above post makes the most sense..

"There's no replacement for personal experience with the charity you're donating to, which for me means donate locally. "

You will know if the people are great pet care takers, and do not take advantage of donations. You can see it and get info on it, and go beyond a terrific video or videos..................

I might also add this, in my opinion, the music is such, that it tries to make you cry. Listen to the music carefully..It is a tearjerker on purpose. This video has over 500,000 views on You Tube. If one fifth gave five bucks, that is $500,000. Kinda sad to think that someone would make a video just to bring in that kind of money to save a helpless animal. Would someone do that?

50 Year Old Ass

A man comes home from work and finds his wife admiring her breasts in the
mirror. He asks, "What are you doing?"

She replies, "I went to the doctor today, and he told me I have the breasts
of a 25 year old."

The husband retorts, "Well, what did he say about your 50 year old ass?"

She replies, "Frankly dear, your name never came up."

These words in the OP are her explaination/ apology. (it is bullshit)

The fact that an off-hand jest I made during a segment about whether Santa should be replaced by a penguin has now become a national firestorm says two things,” Kelly said. “Race is still an incredibly volatile issue in this country, and Fox News, and yours truly, are big targets for many people.”

I believe these words were worked out by the so called "brains" at Fox Clueless. Kelly doesn't have brains enough to come up with anything. Note these words ..big targets for many people

So she is the victim? Really now...but that is what they say and do..except when they attack others. Then it is the so called " truth.."

their truth which is a lie...................

Talking Points Memo

Doug Brugge – December 10, 2013, 6:00 AM EST1942

What people cannot see can be very harmful. In 2012, a report on the Global Burden of Disease found that pollution from dangerous tiny particles and droplets in the air – what scientists call “fine particulate matter” – is among the leading causes of death and severe disability. According to estimates in this report, over 3.2 million deaths per year may be attributable to people breathing dangerous particles in their general environment.

The good news is that over many decades, America has figured out how to reduce emissions of fine particulate matter from smoke stacks and tail pipes, phasing in increasingly effective pollution-reducing technologies.

The bad news is that there is another kind of air pollution from even tinier particles – “ultrafine particles” – that are concentrated next to freeways and other places with a lot of motor vehicle traffic. Pockets of this kind of invisible, odorless and often overlooked pollution may be especially dangerous for people who live and work next to busy highways. Researchers are only just beginning to quantify the dangers and find ways to protect people’s health.

Many people suppose that respiratory diseases are the main risk from breathing in polluted air, but in fact the major health risks are from cardiovascular diseases. Breathing in particles from vehicle emissions, power plants, or burning fuels causes inflammation that spreads throughout the body in the blood, contributing to hardening of the arteries and increased risks for heart attacks and strokes.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Why aren't people talking about this...I will tell you why. Lots and lots of people live near freeways. Lots of businesses are near freeways. So, what would happen to real estate values if it were found out that people were much more likely to get heart disease if they breath in "ultrafine particles" that exist in very high quantities near freeways?

This is not a "nice story" but it is the truth. The story speaks for itself.

Harry Reid: I Won't Campaign Against Mc Connell in 2014: Talking Points Memo

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/harry-reid-i-won-t-campaign-against-mcconnell-in-2014

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said he won't campaign against his arch rival, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who is up for reelection in 2014.

"Oh, no. No, I -- that -- I'm a traditionalist here, and that isn't anything I've ever done and will not do," he told Bloomberg's "Political Capital with Al Hunt" in an interview set to air Friday night.

As for Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes? "Well, she's -- I don't think she needs much of my help. She seems to be doing pretty well," Reid said. "Well, I can only look at the polls. I'm not campaigning in Kentucky."

Reid dismissed pollster Charlie Cook's prediction that Republicans have a 50-50 chance of winning the Senate majority in 2014.

Visa-MasterCard Settle 5.7 Billion Swipe Case..

Source: sfgate.com, google news

Dec. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc. won approval for a $5.7 billion settlement that ended years of litigation with U.S. merchants over allegations that credit-card swipe fees are improperly fixed.

U.S. District Judge John Gleeson said that he was satisfied with the settlement, which was estimated to be the largest-ever U.S. antitrust accord.

“For the first time, merchants will be empowered to expose hidden bank fees to their customers, educate them about those fees and use that information to influence their customers’ choices of payment methods,” Gleeson wrote in his ruling today in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

Once owned by groups of major banks, Foster City, California-based Visa and Purchase, New York-based MasterCard have defended themselves for decades against legal claims that they operated price-fixing schemes. Swipe, or interchange, fees are set by Visa and MasterCard and paid by merchants when consumers use credit or debit cards

"Largest ever U.S.antitrust accord".
Turns out this is a win for the card companies. Further down in the article, it is explained that further lawsuits on this issue were permanently excluded. Large companies opposed this settlement, and it will be appealed.

Fat Shaming vs Fat Acceptance

Worth the five minutes, outstanding analysis of the idea of shaming fat and overweight people. All sides of this issue, and many sides of the "overweight" issue are covered. Very inclusive and very interesting. I recommend it to all interested in these issues.

Stolen Cobalt 60 found, Curious thieves likely doomed

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/stolen-cobalt-60-found-in-mexico-curious-thieves-likely-doomed/2013/12/05/262ef990-5d66-11e3-8d24-31c016b976b2_story.html

MEXICO CITY — The day after a load of stolen radioactive material was found in a field, Mexican authorities had formed a perimeter around the area and were measuring for contamination as they planned the recovery process Thursday, according to Mexican news reports.

Federal police and soldiers formed a cordon of several hundred yards around the highly radioactive container of cobalt-60, stolen earlier in the week in a carjacking as the material was being moved from a public hospital n the border town of Tijuana to a storage facility in central Mexico, news reports said.

The carjackers, who set off international alarm bells by absconding with the material, most likely had no idea what they were stealing and will probably die soon from exposure, Mexican authorities said at the end of a brief national scare.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Strange story, and it makes clear at the end, that the thieves will die soon from exposure because they opened up the sealed containers to take a look. The story explains how the truck was stolen, and why the authorities think the thieves didn't have an idea as to what they took...
