Saying goodbye..... (by Xena Jardin)

byXeni Jardin
My boyfriend Miles O'Brien lost his beloved sister to breast cancer today. They both lost their mom to it a few weeks after I was diagnosed with the same disease.

There is so much to say about what a beautiful soul Aileen was, what a cruel and ugly and brutal disease breast cancer is, how torturous treatment is, how enraging it is that science and medicine have nothing better to offer us yet, how unjust the financial devastation a diagnosis brings to so many women is—and, most of all, what it means to those of us with cancer to have the kind of support in our lives that men like Miles provide, selflessly and heroically and with unconditional love.

But for now, I just want the world to see, respect, and remember this photograph Miles took of his sister this morning, shortly before her life ended. He brought her dog Jethro from her home to the hospice house so Jethro could also say goodbye.

Gone but still loved by all. RIP Aileen Crimmings O'Brien Graef - 10/30/64-8/21/2012

She is survived by two beautiful daughters, Katie and Aileen, whom she loved very much.

And, their dog Jethro.

Loved until the end.......

Funniest newspaper correction ever:

Beyond Castro church's drag-queen fuss, Aug. 16, Bay Area, C1

C.W. Nevius' column about Most Holy Redeemer banning drag queen performers incorrectly stated that entertainer Peaches Christ appeared at an event at the church's hall with a dildo shaped like a crucifix. He did not appear at the event, nor does he use the prop.

He really got that story wrong!

Scott McKenzie has passed. He sang this sixties anthem:

"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" is a song, written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie. It was written and released in June 1967 to promote the Monterey Pop Festival. McKenzie's song became an instant hit.
The lyrics tell the listeners, "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair". Due to the difference between the lyrics and the actual title, the title is often quoted as "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)".
"San Francisco" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and was number one in the United Kingdom and most of Europe. The single is purported to have sold over 5 million copies worldwide. The song is credited with bringing thousands of young people to San Francisco, California during the late 1960s.[citation needed]
In Central Europe, young people adopted "San Francisco" as an anthem for freedom, and it was widely played during Czechoslovakia's 1968 Prague Spring uprising against Soviet rule.[citation needed] The song has been featured in several films, including Frantic, The Rock and Forrest Gump (Wikipedia).
(from youtube)

Such a gentle song. If only it had created a reality that would last.

Fair winds and following seas to you Scott McKenzie. Be sure to wear flowers in your hair on the journey. RIP......

To those insisting that Assange would be accorded the full protections of the

laws set by governments involved, i have one thing to say:
Bwahahhahahahahahha! Ha!

They will walk over any and all laws and precedents involved to do gawd knows what. If it goes to court, he will remain in gawd knows where in full violation of whatever laws are applicable.

The US has shown that they have selective justice for different people. Congress even helps with their suspect laws. There is no rhyme or reason or any steps that can be followed to undertand what process he will go through.

We are in an 'Alice In Guantanamo' world with no end in sight. Send in the drones. Don't bother. They're here.

Assange could be questioned while he is abroad:

In October and November Assange's lawyers offered a telephone or video-link interview (because telephone or video interviews with suspects abroad are lawful in Sweden and qualify for the purposes of a preliminary investigation), but the options were denied as Ny insisted that Assange be interviewed in person.

Why didn't they even take this preliminary step? That would seem to be the logical place to start.
They were hell bent on getting him on Swedish soil.

If I jumped into the Sea Of Galilee while drunk, nekkid or whatever,

I better be able to walk on water to the shore.
Otherwise, my Mama would haunt me forever.
No matter what my feelings about that body of water, she regarded it as an integral part of her religion. I would be disrespecting her.

The Eff Bee of Eye would be the last of my worries.
