Capitol rioter compares attacks on her to treatment of 'Jews in Germany'

Jenna Ryan, a Texas realtor who has sought to parlay her role in the Capitol riot into a career as a right-wing media personality, posted a tweet in March last year that quickly went viral.

“Sorry, I have blonde hair, white skin, a great job, a great future, and I’m not going to jail,” she wrote.

Ryan’s braggadocio apparently backfired. She was later sentenced to 60 days in prison by a judge who noted that she had become one of the faces of Jan. 6.

Ryan, 51, reported to prison Dec. 21. In an interview with NBC News five days earlier, she expressed regret for entering the Capitol but still portrayed herself as a victim. She went so far as to assert that the backlash she has received is akin to the experience of “the Jews in Germany.”

“They’re making fun of my skin color. They’re calling me an ‘insurrection Barbie,’” she said.

UPDATED: January 3, 2022 at 5:42 p.m.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Kelly Ernby, who ran for state Assembly in 2020 and had become a leader with the Republican Party of Orange County, has died suddenly, a week after telling friends she was very sick with COVID-19. She was 46 years old.

“I lost a dear friend to Covid complications,” Ben Chapman, chair of the Greater Costa Mesa Republicans, tweeted Monday. “You’ve been nothing but an inspiration to many of us here in Orange County.”

Condolences were pouring in online Monday for Ernby, who was a Huntington Beach resident and presumed 2022 candidate for Assembly.

Before joining the DA’s office, she worked for a private Orange County firm handling civil business litigation for nine years.

“It was an absolute privilege to fight the good fight alongside Kelly,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer posted to social media Monday. “Her passion and her shining light will be forever missed.”.....................................

................She commented most frequently on Twitter over the past year about her opposition to mandates for COVID-19 vaccines. During a Dec. 4 rally against vaccine mandates at Irvine City Hall, Cal State Fullerton’s Daily Titan reports Ernby drew parallels between the 1960s and today, saying in both eras people faced losing freedoms to what she termed socialist ideals.

“There’s nothing that matters more than our freedoms right now,” she said, according to the Daily Titan...........................................................

It's not a thread per se, but there's a subreddit called HermanCainAward which revolves around antivaxxers getting covid (usually dying from it) after they publicly declare they won't get vaccinated.

Using water on COVID-19 home tests produces inaccurate results

So so so many idiots!!

Using water on COVID-19 tests produces inaccurate results

By KARENA PHANDecember 29, 2021

CLAIM: Pouring water on home COVID-19 tests gives a positive result, evidence that they are unreliable or that they are detecting the disease in tap water.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The tests are not made to be used with other liquids, including water, and will provide inaccurate results in those situations. In addition, the virus that causes COVID-19 has not been detected in drinking water.

THE FACTS: Videos and photos circulating on social media show at-home rapid COVID-19 tests displaying positive results after being doused with water.

One TikTok video showing a positive home test after being placed under a running faucet has been viewed more than 10 million times. It has been used to support a variety of false claims across social media platforms. It was unclear what brand of test was used.

“Could it be in your water I honestly do not doubt it! Or the tests are FAF! Biggest fraud of all times,” said the caption of one Facebook post sharing the video.

A similar post with more than 82,000 likes on Instagram shows photos and a video of several BinaxNOW home tests that have been used with water and have positive test results. Part of the caption reads, “Now it makes me look even deeper, is it the water??? Am I really positive?”..............................

Posts circulating online show at-home COVID-19 tests displaying positive results after being doused with water, but this doesn’t mean the tests are unreliable or that COVID is in water. Experts say the tests give inaccurate results when used improperly.

Eldest Trump children won't comply with subpoenas from New York attorney general

Source: abc

Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump are now respondents in the civil case.

By Aaron Katersky January 3, 2022, 6:33 PM

........................

The document, filed jointly by New York Attorney General Letitia James and an attorney for the Trump Organization, said Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump will now be named as respondents in James’ ongoing inquiry, which parallels a criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

“As her investigation into financial dealing of the Trump Organization continues, Attorney General James is seeking interviews under oath of Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump," a spokesperson for the AG's office said. ...................................

......................

Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump sought to quash the subpoenas Monday evening in a motion.

Alan Futerfas, an attorney representing both Trump children, questioned James' motives: her office is also involved in the criminal investigation of the Trump Organization.

“The goal of the subpoenas is all too clear: Attorney General James seeks to circumvent the entire grand jury process and nullify Moving Parties’ most fundamental constitutional and statutory rights by requesting that they provide non-immunized testimony to the OAG – when the OAG/DANY is jointly conducting a grand jury investigation,” Futerfas wrote in a motion to quash the subpoenas, which he said violate the rules of criminal procedure.........................

Well, I am trying not to be a pessimist--but it is hard to do when the Trumps are involved.

Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump are trying to stop my office from interviewing them under oath as part of our investigation into the Trump Organization and Mr. Trump.

Over two years of delay tactics won't stop our investigation because no one is above the law.

BREAKING: Donald tRump Jr. and Ivanka tRump have been subpoenaed by the New York Attorney General.

In typical #tRumpCrimeFamily fashion, they are refusing to comply. After all, if you're a tRump, you don't have to follow the law like the "little people."

Attorney General Letitia James has also sought testimony from the former president and Eric Trump.

.....................
.............................

The attorney general’s office has been seeking to question Donald Trump under oath in early January, though the former president’s attorneys filed a federal lawsuit in December in an effort to block the probe and prevent him from having to testify.

The elder Trump has repeatedly attacked the integrity of Attorney General Letitia James and the investigation being conducted by her office as motivated by James’ personal animus and political ambitions.

"Letitia James is the single most unethical Attorney General this country has ever seen," Alina Habba, a Trump attorney, said in a statement. "The way she has weaponized her office through this political witch hunt exceeds all bounds of prosecutorial standards and violates basic constitutional rights."

The exact scope of James’ fraud investigation remains unknown, but her investigators have been collaborating with a parallel criminal investigation by the Manhattan district attorney’s office — until recently led by Cyrus Vance Jr. — which has been looking into allegations of business, insurance, bank and tax fraud.
