LeftInTX's JournalLatinx High Schoolers Train To Be Border Patrol Agents
Article from 2021, but don't remember seeing it posted here.
For Cristina, a child of immigrants, a Border Patrol job is a route to the middle class and an opportunity to carry her parents dreams forward. My dad came over here to have a better life, she says early on in the film. Im the first one thats going to go to college and go into a major career. When she tells her dad about a Border Patrol starting position that would pay more than $51,000, he says he didnt start making that much money until two years ago. Her situation isnt uncommon for children of immigrants along the border; text on the screen tells us that law enforcement is one of the few career fields in El Paso with wages comparable to the national average. After graduation, Cristina starts in a Border Patrol training program and takes night classes at a community college. She talks about how the club is like a family to her and how excited she is about her path.

I wonder if Mitch regrets his Supreme Court rigging?
What did Mitch want from his rigged SC?
Business friendly
Pro private education
Assurance of elections of future Republicans
What did he get? Ted Cruz on steroids
I got lots of "403 forbidden" errors yesterday. Couldn't log into DU as if it was offline.
I should have taken a screenshot. It wasn't the same as the 403 I get when replying.
DU would be "offline" for about 10 minutes or so
In 1971 India made a movie about the white hippies invading their country

India's business community was not too happy with hippies invading their country and like drug movies in the US, this movie had a moral message.
Angry with the world and herself, Janice (Zeenat Aman) seeks solace in the hippie cult and drug-filled bliss, where people wear T-shirts saying Free Love. Janice originally was named Jasbir, but changed her name to Janice when she became a hippie.
The film unfolds through a maze of drugs, crime and religion.
Through the story (and songs), Anand asks the wayward youth to not ruin the name of Ram as they sing Hare Rama Hare Krishna. He urges them to wake up and not run from life, towards drugs and other vices.
Although Zeenat and Anand portray brother and sister, he was 30 years older than her in real life.
Desperate 911 calls from inside Uvalde classrooms never got to school police chief, legislator says
State Sen. Roland Gutierrez cited the Commission on State Emergency Communications for his revelation, which could further complicate an investigation into the police response to the shooting May 24 at Robb Elementary School.
"I was told specifically," Gutierrez told reporters. "My question specifically was: Was the [school district] police officer ... on duty [told] about the calls? I was specifically told no."

Gutierrez insisted, "I'm not covering him." He blamed a systemic failure that hampered police communication at a crucial moment.

I have never participated in an active shooter drill, however I would think assuring access to 911 services would be part of the drill! I know this district has had two in the past year.
