Two European cyclists who were found dead at the bottom of a ravine in southern Mexico were murdered, investigators have said, discarding their earlier theory that the men plunged off a cliff.
The cyclists – Holger Hagenbusch of Germany and Krzysztof Chmielewski of Poland – had been travelling the world by bicycle.
But after being reported missing by relatives, they were found dead at the foot of a sheer rock face in the Mexican state of Chiapas.
Investigators initially said the pair appeared to have lost control on a winding mountain road.

A court filing indicates President Trump had blackmail material on former New York Attorney General Eric Scheiderman while Schneiderman’s office conducted a years-long investigation into allegations that Trump University was defrauding students.
Scheiderman’s investigation into Trump’s now-defunct “university” — which was not an accredited school, but instead offered expensive real estate workshops and seminars — began in 2013 and ended just last month.
A New York attorney named Peter Gleason claims that two women contacted him “some years ago” to report that Schneiderman had been “sexually inappropriate with them,” followed by a third woman in 2013.
Gleason writes that he advised the third woman against reporting the incident to the Manhattan District Attorney Office “based on my past experience in reporting prima facie political corruption that was ignored by the office, some of which were ultimately prosecuted elsewhere.”

On the campaign trail, candidate Trump promised to save hundreds of billions of dollars standing up to the pharmaceutical industry, and said he’d “negotiate like crazy” to bring down Medicare prescription drug prices.
Allowing Medicare to negotiate directly with drug companies for better prices has long been a goal for progressives, and when voters heard Trump stray from the Republican party orthodoxy, railing against Big Pharma as he asked for their support, many likely thought his promises would mean something different in Washington, D.C. if he were elected president.
Sadly, they were wrong.
Ahead of the Friday speech announcing the plan, senior administration officials told reporters that “we are not calling for Medicare negotiation in the way that Democrats have called for,” instead characterizing Trump’s plan as outlining “important changes that will dramatically improve the way negotiation takes place inside the Medicare program.”

Man changed address of UPS headquarters to his own apartment
A man has been charged over a scam in which he changed the corporate address of the global shipping company UPS to his own small apartment in Chicago, rerouting thousands of pieces of mail.
Dushaun Henderson-Spruce, 24, has been charged with mail theft and fraud in an alleged scam that saw items including American Express cards in the name of the chief executive and other board members being delivered to his address in Rogers Park, the Chicago Tribune reported.
So much mail was arriving at his seven-storey building that the carrier had to leave it in a US postal service tub because there was no room in the mail box, the Tribune said.
Henderson-Spruce, who spent a brief period in 2012 working as a package handler for UPS at the company’s sorting facility in Hodgkins, Illinois, was held in custody Thursday and scheduled for a detention hearing next week.

Police confirm death of Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison
Police in Scotland have confirmed the death of Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison, after his body was discovered following his disappearance on Wednesday.
Police made the discovery at Port Edgar near South Queensferry in Edinburgh at 8.30pm on Thursday, with Hutchison’s family informed. Hutchison, 36, was last seen at 1am on Wednesday, when he left the Dakota hotel in South Queensferry.
The band had posted a message on Twitter asking for anyone with information to contact police, adding: “We are worried about Scott, who has been missing for a little while now. He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now.”
Fans sent messages of support, summed up by Hutchison’s brother and bandmate, Grant, who told Radio X earlier this week: “The support’s been immense … There’s nothing that is so insurmountable that we can’t figure it out together and help you to get better and we’re all here for you and we all love you very much.”

GOP candidate boasts he would 'round up criminal illegals' himself in new ad

A Georgia Republican running for the governor’s office boasts of owning a pickup truck “in case I need to round up criminal illegals” in a new campaign ad.
It is the latest advert from Brian Kemp, Georgia’s secretary of state, who calls himself a “politically incorrect conservative”, and who caused a stir recently by featuring a shotgun in another commercial.
The new ad released on Wednesday appears aimed at answering – and riling up – his detractors. The Republican garnered strong criticism with an earlier campaign video released in late April in which he holds a shotgun and pretends to threaten a young man interested in his daughter.
Critics argue that Kemp is making light of gun violence and, in the new ad, advocating vigilante action against undocumented immigrants. Many of Kemp’s supporters simply see the ads as humorous defenses of archetypal conservative symbols.
