Where is going to get a billion dollars?. He won't have PACs support. Gonna take a billion dollars and I don't see him laying out that kind of bread. Not without a payoff. Not onnwhat he knows will be a losing cause.

And what about him having to divest? Selling his companies, divesting his interests etc that are required when taking office. Seems to me that was the trip- up for him in 2008 when he ran the first time.

His prized plan is a pair of treaties covering Asia and Europe that hold the potential to both widen and regulate global trade, an unstoppable force that needs updated rules. But Congress isn’t sold on the good sense of this idea, nor are the leading presidential candidates of both major parties, who compete daily in denouncing the deals.

As a major exporter, California has a special seat at the table, with goods including Hollywood movies, wine and prescription pills all at issue. Missing a chance for better terms on exports, environmental protections and labor protections will be a loss on both sides of the Pacific.

The problem has an isolationist echo in Europe. In London, Obama walked into a firestorm of criticism for urging British voters to reject a plan to exit the European Union. He made a similar pitch in Germany, where crowds filled the streets to denounce a pending trade treaty similar to the one wrapping in 12 Pacific Rim countrphp,

With Europe, the problems spill beyond economics. Germany, like other neighboring countries, is worried about immigration, terrorism and slowing business. A more protective outlook that minimizes foreign corporations and toughens border controls has rising appeal.

For Obama, it’s a hard sell to counter this political reality both here and abroad. Adding to the problem is a presidential clock that’s ticking down on his final term. “Time is not on our side,’’ he said, noting both the brewing opposition in Europe and his dwindling days in office that run out Jan. 20.

In its report on the still-censored “28 pages” implicating the Saudi government in 9/11, “60 Minutes” last weekend said the Saudi role in the attacks has been “soft-pedaled” to protect America’s delicate alliance with the oil-rich kingdom.

That’s quite an understatement.

Actually, the kingdom’s involvement was deliberately covered up at the highest levels of our government. And the coverup goes beyond locking up 28 pages of the Saudi report in a vault in the US Capitol basement. Investigations were throttled. Co-conspirators were let off the hook.

Case agents I’ve interviewed at the Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Washington and San Diego, the forward operating base for some of the Saudi hijackers, as well as detectives at the Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department who also investigated several 9/11 leads, say virtually every road led back to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, as well as the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles.

Yet time and time again, they were called off from pursuing leads. A common excuse was “diplomatic immunity.”

Those sources say the pages missing from the 9/11 congressional inquiry report — which comprise the entire final chapter dealing with “foreign support for the September 11 hijackers” — details “incontrovertible evidence” gathered from both CIA and FBI case files of official Saudi assistance for at least two of the Saudi hijackers who settled in San Diego.

Brain scans show how LSD mimics mind of a baby
LONDON (Reuters) - Scientists have for the first time scanned the brains of people using LSD and found the psychedelic drug frees the brain to become less compartmentalized and more like the mind of a baby.

research team led by scientists at Imperial College London said that while normally the brain works on independent networks performing separate functions such as vision, movement and hearing, under LSD the separateness of these networks breaks down, leading to a more unified system.

"In many ways, the brain in the LSD state resembles the state our brains were in when we were infants: free and unconstrained," said Robin Cahart-Harris, who led the study. "This also makes sense when we consider the hyper-emotional and imaginative nature of an infant's mind."

The findings, published on Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) journal, also showed that when the volunteers took LSD, many extra brain areas - not just the visual cortex - contributed to visual processing.


This could explain the complex visual hallucinations that are often associated with the LSD state, the scientists said.

Carhart-Harris, a researcher at Imperial's department of medicine said the experience also seemed to be linked to "improvements in well-being" after the drug's effects subside, suggesting the findings may one day lead to psychedelic compounds being used to treat psychiatric disorders.

Such drugs could be particularly useful in mental disorders where negative thought patterns have become entrenched, the scientists explained, such as in depression or addiction.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign finance records show the wealthy Walmart heiress, Alice Walton, donated $353,400 to Clinton’s “Victory Fund.” The six-figure donation contrasts Clinton’s campaign messaging as a workers’ ally. Walmart stands out for its oppressive labor practices and corporate greed behavior. Before that Alice Walton contributed $25,000 to the Ready for Hillary political action committee.

The former first lady and secretary of state has been endorsed by multiple labor unions including Service Employees International Union (SEIU), American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and the National Education Association (NEA).

“One of the greatest issues of the coming election for president of the United States and perhaps the most burning issue for progressives in this nation is the involvement of corporate money and how it corrupts the system,” the Daily Kos said in a January article titled "Hillary, Walmart and the Revolving Door.”

Unlike many other elected officials, Clinton has refused to publicly denounce Walmart over the company’s pay scale and anti-union policies. She gave her critics ammunition when campaign treasurer Jose Villarreal attended a fundraiser discussion and dinner hosted by Ivan Zapien, Walmart's vice president of corporate affairs in Mexico. Zapien, who previously served as the company’s top lobbyist in Washington, maxed out in personal contributions to Clinton's campaign last year.
