El Paso, TX—A plus-sized Jewish lady redneck died in El Paso on Saturday.

Of itself hardly news, or good news if you're the type that subscribes to the notion that anybody not named you dying in El Paso, Texas is good news. In which case have I got news for you: the bawdy, fertile, redheaded matriarch of a sprawling Jewish-Mexican-Redneck American family has kicked it. This was not good news to Renay Mandel Corren's many surviving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom she even knew and, in her own way, loved. There will be much mourning in the many glamorous locales she went bankrupt in: McKeesport, PA, Renay's birthplace and where she first fell in love with ham, and atheism; Fayetteville and Kill Devil Hills, NC, where Renay's dreams, credit rating and marriage are all buried; and of course Miami, FL, where Renay's parents, uncles, aunts, and eternal hopes of all Miami Dolphins fans everywhere, are all buried pretty deep. Renay was preceded in death by Don Shula.

“Renay has been toying with death for decades, but always beating it and running off in her silver Chevy Nova,” the obituary states.

“Covid couldn’t kill Renay. Neither could pneumonia twice, infections, blood clots, bad feet, breast cancer twice, two mastectomies, two recessions, multiple bankruptcies, marriage to a philandering Sergeant Major, divorce in the 70s, six kids, one cesarean, a few abortions from the Quietly Famous Abortionist of Spring Lake, NC or an affair with Larry King in the 60s.”

It also lists her many talents: “She played cards like a shark, bowled and played cribbage like a pro, and laughed with the boys until the wee hours, long after the last pin dropped.”

“Renay didn’t cook, she didn’t clean, and she was lousy with money, too. Here’s what Renay was great at: dyeing her red roots, weekly manicures, dirty jokes, pier fishing, rolling joints and buying dirty magazines.”

Governor Beshear has established the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund to assist those impacted by the tornados and the severe weather system on December 11, 2021.

This is a difficult day for Kentucky with loved ones lost, communities destroyed and so much hurt and uncertainty for thousands more, but we Kentuckians are tough, resilient and generous people.

The Turtle Hospital

The Turtle Hospital opened its doors 1986 with four main goals: 1) rehab injured sea turtles and return them to their natural habitat, 2) educate the public through outreach programs and visit local schools, 3) conduct and assist with research aiding to sea turtles (in conjunction with state universities), and 4) work toward environmental legislation making the beaches and water safe and clean for sea turtles.

The Turtle Hospital (Hidden Harbor Marine Environmental Project, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. The Hidden Harbor Motel provides the space and buildings needed to house and care for the sea turtles. The Turtle Hospital offers Guided Educational Experiences to the public daily 7 days a week. The Turtle Hospital contains up-to-date equipment needed to perform a variety of surgeries on different species and sizes of sea turtles. More than half of this equipment has been donated by local hospitals and doctors, and some equipment has been donated by environmentally- friendly organizations and individuals.

Police slowed Foster by placing a “spike strip” across the road, flattening all four of Foster’s tires. “He drove on the wrong side, he ran a couple of cars off the road, but he ended up slowing down in kind of a rolling roadblock,” Black said.

He subsequently climbed a curb and crashed into a business, Black said. Black said Foster engaged in a “small, minor tussle” with officers, but nobody appeared to get hurt, and officers handcuffed Foster and drove him to the Pickens County Jail. They booked him on counts of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police.

When the family arrived in Reform on Sunday, Black said he was able to summon a judge, who allowed the family to post a $500 cash bail for his release on the condition that Foster go to the hospital as planned. The police chief and family arrived at the jail Sunday and the hospital was prepared to admit Foster, Black said. But while they were waiting in the sallyport to get Foster, “something happened,” Black said.

“We went to bond him out and something happened at the jail and they wouldn’t let us get him,” Black said. “I really don’t know medically what was going on, but based on what I learned, it was not normal.” According to Foster’s father, Black told him that the chief followed sheriff’s deputies as they drove him in a patrol cruiser — rather than an ambulance — to a hospital about a half-hour away from the jail, instead of the facility in Birmingham. Foster Sr. said he understands his son was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.

President Joe Biden celebrated artists including Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell and Lorne Michaels at the Kennedy Center Honors. Referring to Michaels, Biden joked that the 'Saturday Night Live' creator was ‘trying out seven guys to play me.’

Genesee County is the second to cancel classes countywide for Friday. Tuscola County public schools also collectively decided to cancel classes due to rampant threats online.

Bay City Public Schools also will be closed Friday, according to an announcement posted on the district's Facebook page late Thursday evening. The post says Bay City Central High School received a threat around 8 p.m. Thursday. Administrators don't believe the threat is credible, but they are closing the district "out of an abundance of caution."

Genesee County school officials say many of the threats reported on Thursday did not include specific information and likely lack credibility. Administrators spent much of Thursday working closely with local law enforcement agencies to investigate each threat reported to their districts.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton charged a student from Flint Southwestern Academy on Thursday with threatening to "shoot up" the school. He warned that threats against schools carry heavy legal consequences.

Administrators were made aware of a threat of violence toward Bay City Central High School this evening at approximately 8PM. The threat originated via social media, and appears to be a viral "challenge" for students to post. The photo and threat has been seen in several other districts.
