Why Al Sharpton and Ben Crump are taking up the case of a White teen killed by police
By Emma Tucker and Christina Carrega, CNN
)The Rev. Al Sharpton and Ben Crump are taking up their first case involving a White person who was killed after being shot during an encounter with a police officer.
The civil rights leader and the high-profile attorney, who Sharpton has dubbed "Black America's Attorney general," deemed the police shooting of 17-year-old Hunter Brittain "one of the most significant" cases in the fight to push Congress for landmark police reform legislation.
Attorneys Crump and Devon Jacob, along with Sharpton and representatives from the NAACP, were invited to attend Brittain's memorial on Tuesday at Beebe High School in Beebe, Arkansas.
Brittain was fatally shot June 23 by a Lonoke County sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop around 3 a.m. outside of a local auto repair shop along Arkansas Highway 89 south of Cabot, a Little Rock suburb, according to Arkansas State Police.

Months after Rupert Murdoch got a Covid-19 dose, one of his networks stars, Tucker Carlson, called a Biden vaccination proposal the greatest scandal in my lifetime.
Back in December, before the queen of England and the president-elect of the United States had their turns, the media mogul Rupert Murdoch received a dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Afterward, he urged everyone else to get it, too.
Since then, a different message has been a repeated refrain on the prime-time shows hosted by Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham on Mr. Murdochs Fox News Channel a message at odds with the recommendations of health experts, even as the viruss Delta variant and other mutations fuel outbreaks in areas where vaccination rates are below the national average.
Mr. Carlson, Ms. Ingraham and guests on their programs have said on the air that the vaccines could be dangerous; that people are justified in refusing them; and that public authorities have overstepped in their attempts to deliver them.
Mr. Carlson and Ms. Ingraham last week criticized a plan by the Biden administration to increase vaccinations by having health care workers and volunteers go door to door to try to persuade the reluctant to get shots.

Everyone suffers when heat waves strike and set new high temperatures. But some communities are more vulnerable than others, and that includes the thousands of unhoused people in Southern California. Thirst, heat stroke and exhaustion pose serious threats to homeless people around the region.
Mayer Dahan, founder of the Dream Builders Project, a nonprofit that assembles and distributes care packages to homeless people, said that now more than ever Angelenos need to activate themselves the same way they did in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and respond to the needs of the unhoused community.
Heres what you can do.
During extreme heat
Mayra Lozano, director of community outreach for WaterDrop LA, a skid row nonprofit, said that above all, people need water.

Under extreme conditions, excessive sweating can cause serious health problems. Supplemental electrolytes from a sports drink or other sources can help prevent heat stroke, said Cat Kim, board director for the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition.
Cooling towels, hats and umbrellas, Kim said, are other things that you can think about giving to an unhoused person. Ice packs from meal-delivery services are also great to give out.
When talking with an unhoused person, encourage them to seek shade or refuge from the sun. You can direct them to public libraries, she said, or cooling centers run by the county. Cooling centers were closed last summer because of the pandemic, but they are back this year. Locations change each year.

Jason Ravnsborg's defense says the man he struck and killed was suicidal
https://www.newser.com/story/308405/victim-wanted-to-die-sd-ag-claims-in-filing.html?utm_source=part&utm_medium=uol&utm_campaign=rss_top
Jason Ravnsborg is really looking for an out. The South Dakota attorney general who struck and killed Joe Boever with his car back in September of 2020 is now claiming the victim wanted to die. Boever, whose glasses were found inside Ravnsborgs car and whose lit flashlight was found off the road and near his body, had recently started taking a prescription anti-anxiety medicine, Keloland reports. Ravnsborgs defense team filed a court document requesting the victims psychiatric records. That document quotes Boevers cousin Barnabas Nemec saying he believes Boever threw himself in front of the car on purpose.
The filing claims that Boever was working his way through a bottle of Lorazepam faster than prescribed, and that the common medicine can cause suicidal ideation. It also says evidence points to Boever walking in the road instead of the shoulder. Thats a take that another cousin, Nick Nemec, disputes, the Daily Beast reports. Joe was on the shoulder of the road, he said, So, that, I would think, would indicate he wasnt out trying to jump in front of a car. He also said that hed seen no indication that Boever was suicidal. Prosecutors say Ravnsborg had been using his phone while driving shortly before the accident, per the Argus Leader.

The abuser, who has not been named, could be heard shouting: 'Hey Bruce. Bruce. What do you think of the stuff they're teaching in schools regarding the LGBTQ? Bout Jesus Christ Bruce, don't forget about Jesus.'
He then added: 'Look at that sick freak.'
Jenner did not rise to the cruelty, and pretended not to notice the man as she strolled through the lobby and into a waiting SUV.
She fell victim to a practice known as 'deadnaming' - where a transgender person is deliberately called the name they used before transitioning in a bid to upset them.
---------
The abuse Caitlyn suffered was shared on a satirical Twitter page called Patriot Takes, which appears to poke fun at conservative personalities.
Caitlyn was verbally abused despite running as a Republican challenger to current California Governor Gavin Newsom, who faces a recall election this fall.

Yes, Lauren Boebert Tweeted That Turning Off CNN was the Easiest Way to Make the Delta Variant Go Away
On June 30, 2021, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado, tweeted, The easiest way to make the Delta variant go away is to turn off CNN. And vote Republican. Boebert deleted the tweet, but not before a journalist captured a screenshot and posted it to his own Twitter account.
The Delta variant is a highly-contagious strain of COVID-19, which is raising public health concerns even as the pandemic fades into the background of daily life.
Local news station KUSA reporter Kyle Clark wrote, Boebert represents Mesa County, where the Delta variant was first found in Colorado and now makes up 50%+ of its COVID cases.
