Opinion: Right-Wing 'ReAwaken America' Tour Brought Irreligious Abomination to San Diego

Depending on where you go and who you ask, Holy Scripture can be interpreted and put into practice in myriad ways, all well-intentioned and in keeping with the spirit in which it was written. But there is one unequivocal and universal truth contained in Holy Scripture for the church: Christians are to be about “loving God, self and neighbor.”

Tragically, late last month, proclaimed church leaders and religious zealots descended upon San Diego County, and twisted this scriptural truth for specific political purposes. In speaking to thousands of vulnerable attendees, this group spewed dangerous falsehood after falsehood about COVID-19 and the 2020 election.

In so doing, leaders abused the very name and message of Jesus Christ, and continued to do immense harm to neighbor after neighbor after neighbor.

The event at a church in San Marcos was the latest stop on disgraced, retired General Michael Flynn’s “ReAwaken America Tour,” a nationwide series of megachurch engagements featuring a who’s who of far-right religious extremists, Trump aides, QAnon conspiracy theorists, and other reckless figures. At every stop along the way, the Christian nationalist tour has left in its wake a trail of dangerous disinformation that leads to bigotry, hate, and, at its most extreme, violence.

Women Do The Most 'Invisible Work' At The Office

Every year, the organization I worked for would host an annual fundraiser and select an individual to chair the efforts. One year, my director let me know that her boss was going to be the executive sponsor for the initiative, and asked if I would chair the committee to organize the events for the nonprofit fundraiser.

---------

At the final fundraiser celebration on the executive floor of the company, all of the executives and people involved with the fundraising efforts came to celebrate the money that was raised. I still remember the moment the executive sponsor got up to make his remarks. As everyone circled around him, I tried to peer over a group of mostly male leaders and executives. The sponsor talked about the importance of fundraising and how much money was raised, and thanked everyone for their involvement and support.

“Oh, and also thank you to Kelli for coordinating this event.”

After weeks of planning and stressing, the “exposure” I was supposed to receive amounted to barely a two-second mention. I felt like a balloon deflating. I had put in 50-plus hours, and no one was going to leave that event and remember my name or my face.

-------

In addition to the two hours of unpaid labor women take on at home, research from Harvard Business Review found that women get 44% more requests than men to volunteer for “non-promotable” tasks at work. Non-promotable tasks are those that benefit the organization but likely don’t contribute to someone’s performance evaluation and career advancement.

These tasks include traditional office “housework,” such as coordinating parties and office events, as well as filling in for colleagues and serving on low-level committees. Men tend to get requests for and accept more strategic projects with higher-level networking or visibility. When the requests for non-promotable tasks are made, according to HBR, men say yes 51% of the time and women say yes 76% of the time.

Boris Becker is bankrupt and could face jail

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/tennis/boris-becker-found-guilty-over-bankruptcy-could-face-jail/ar-AAW0Akd

LONDON (AP) — Tennis great Boris Becker could face a jail sentence after being found guilty on Friday of illicitly moving thousands of dollars from a bank account after he was declared bankrupt.

--------------

Becker’s bankruptcy stemmed from a 4.6 million euro ($5 million) loan from a private bank in 2013, as well as about $1.6 million borrowed from a British businessman the year after, according to testimony at the trial.

During the trial Becker, 54, said his $50 million career earnings had been swallowed up by payments for an “expensive divorce” and debts when he lost large chunks of his income after retirement.

He said he had “expensive lifestyle commitments” including a house in Wimbledon that cost 22,000 pounds ($28,800) in rent each month. But he said bad publicity had damaged “brand Becker,” making it hard for him to earn enough to pay off his debts.

angry amazon driver

Footage shows the driver then looking up to the doorbell camera and violently giving it the finger with both hands.

He then goes back to his delivery van and retrieves another of Ms Murray's packages before pitching it so aggressively toward her door that it smashes into the doorbell camera.

Following the bizarre outburst he goes and delivers a package to Murray's neighbor before driving away as if nothing happened.

Murray said: 'I heard some very aggressive beeping outside my house. Which prompted me to check my ring camera to see what was happening.

'This is when I watched the driver kick my box from the back of his truck to my front yard.

'Gave the camera the finger with both hands. And took a picture for delivery confirmation.

'He walked back to the house and got another of my packages, threw it hitting my ring camera, and gave the finger again.

'Delivered another package to my neighbor and drove off like nothing happened.'

St. Louis Cops Lied About Being Carjacked, Says Prosecutor

Two St. Louis police officers are now under investigation for lying under oath after video evidence revealed the cops lied about an alleged carjacking attempt, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

On March 19, two officers alleged that they had been victims of an attempted carjacking. One officer claimed a man ran toward the police vehicle and tapped on the window with a handgun aimed at the officers inside. However, the police were slow to provide attorneys with any video evidence of the situation — so a prosecutor’s office employee called up some local businesses to see if any of them had security camera footage of the reported carjacking.

One did, but it painted a drastically different picture than what the police reported:

[Chief warrant officer Chris] Hinckley said the business footage shows the man walking into the street, into the path of the police pickup, then walking away without ever lifting his hands from his side.

The entire confrontation lasted two or three seconds.

“This is nowhere near what he (an officer) represented,” Hinckley said. “You wonder why nobody got this footage.”

[...]

The arrest of the purported carjacker made national news, but video evidence has exonerated him of any charges of criminal activity; the worst offense he committed in the video footage was jaywalking. However, the offender remains in jail for other reasons.

One of the officers involved can be heard on his body-worn camera saying the suspect ran out from a bus stop, gun drawn and held in outstretched arms. The officer said the suspect first ran directly in front of their car, causing the driver to swerve, before bringing the gun to the passenger side and pointing it inside.

Councilman about cops blasting loud music at 11pm "you wouldn't do this in an affluent neighborhood"

about 5:00 into video, the music is SUPER LOUD.

A Santa Ana City Council member confronted a group of police officers late Monday night for blasting loud Disney music in his neighborhood.

Santa Ana Councilman Johnathan Hernandez says the Santa Ana police officers were blaring their music just before 11 p.m. Monday.

Among the songs which can be heard playing is the hit "We Don't Talk About Bruno," from the Oscar-winning film "Encanto."

The officers were purportedly in the 1600 block of West Civic Center Drive waiting for a stolen car to be picked up when Hernandez approached them. The nearly 13-minute video was posted to the YouTube channel, Santa Ana Audits, which focuses on filming Santa Ana police officers.

"This is my district, you're not gonna conduct yourself like that in front my neighbors," Hernandez tells one of the officers.

"I apologize," the officer can be heard responding.

"You wouldn't do that in an affluent neighborhood, so why would you do it in mine?" Hernandez later said in a phone interview.
