WASHINGTON (AP) Only a few of Americas CEOs have made public statements about President Donald Trumps refusal to accept his election loss, but in private, many are alarmed and talking about what collective action would be necessary if they see an imminent threat to democracy.
On Nov. 6, more than two dozen CEOs of major U.S. corporations took part in a video conference to discuss what to do if Trump refuses to leave office or takes other steps to stay in power beyond the scheduled Jan. 20 inauguration of former Vice President Joe Biden. On Saturday Biden was declared the election winner by The Associated Press and other news organizations.
During the conference, which lasted more than an hour, the CEOs agreed that Trump had the right to pursue legal challenges alleging voter fraud.
But if Trump tries to undo the legal process or disrupts a peaceful transition to Biden, the CEOs discussed making public statements and pressuring GOP legislators in their states who may try to redirect Electoral College votes from Biden to Trump, said Yale Management Professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, who convened the meeting.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) Nearly 1,500 students and staff contracted COVID-19 last week, according to the Tennessee Dept. of Health.
The states COVID-19 school dashboard shows about a thousand students tested positive for the virus last week, in addition to the more than 700 the week before, and staff totaling about 800 in the last two weeks.
But the numbers were not seeing are the number of students and staff quarantined due to exposure. Looking at just four of the biggest school districts in Middle Tennessee, thats more than 5,000.
We saw a spike the third week of October when we were coming out of fall break. I think a lot of people saw that, said James Evans, a spokesperson for Rutherford County School District.

Results from a new Cleveland Clinic-led study suggest that melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle and is commonly used as an over-the-counter sleep aid, may be a viable treatment option for COVID-19.
Snip
Analysis of patient data from Cleveland Clinic's COVID-19 registry also revealed that melatonin usage was associated with a nearly 30 percent reduced likelihood of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) after adjusting for age, race, smoking history and various disease comorbidities. Notably, the reduced likelihood of testing positive for the virus increased from 30 to 52 percent for African Americans when adjusted for the same variables.
Snip
Here, the researchers harnessed network medicine methodologies and large-scale electronic health records from Cleveland Clinic patients to identify clinical manifestations and pathologies common between COVID-19 and other diseases. Specifically, they measured the proximity between host genes/proteins and those well-associated with 64 other diseases across several disease categories (malignant cancer and autoimmune, cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological and pulmonary diseases), where closer proximity indicates a higher likelihood of pathological associations between the diseases.
They found, for example, that proteins associated with respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis, two main causes of death in patients with severe COVID-19, were highly connected with multiple SARS-CoV-2 proteins. "This signals to us, then," explained Dr. Cheng, "that a drug already approved to treat these respiratory conditions may have some utility in also treating COVID-19 by acting on those shared biological targets."

During the press conference Rudy Giuliani held at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Northeast Philadelphia last week to discuss upcoming lawsuits challenging the 2020 election results, the first person he called up as a witness was a convicted sex offender, POLITICO reports.
Its such a shame. This is a democracy, alleged poll watcher Daryl Brooks said. They did not allow us to see anything. Was it corrupt or not? But give us an opportunity as poll watchers to view all the documents all of the ballots.
According to reports, Brooks was incarcerated in the 1990s on charges of sexual assault, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a minor for exposing himself to two girls ages 7 and 11. Brooks has run for various offices that include the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. During the press conference, Brooks said hes from Philadelphia, but POLITICO could not confirm that to be the case.

In a CNN piece on the Stop the Steal movement made up of Donald Trump supporters who believe the election is being stolen, fans of the president were either baffled or dismissive when presented with evidence that they were regurgitating baseless conspiracy theories.
In the clip, filmed at a Stop the Steal protest in Pennsylvania, CNNs Donie OSullivan pressed supporters of the president on why they believe the election is being stolen that led one woman to tell him, Go, I dont even want to talk to you! when he disagreed with her.
snip
Discussing a video that went viral which showed sample ballots being destroyed, Melissa refused to believe election officials who confirmed the clip was being misrepresented on social media, telling OSullivan they are lying, But wouldnt they, though? Thats the thing question everything, right?
Another man, who was not identified, admitted, Me, Im very thorough with the information I look at. I have my opinions obviously, but Im not just going to go around retweeting blatantly false information or things I believe that are I look at things that are suspicious.
