In times of chaos you either get real aggressive or get buried.

And we are in an era of chaos.

Supreme Court is going to over rule anything they deem as progressive.

Options available become fewer and fewer.

With that, keeping our powder dry, working to cooperation, things of the past.

Now I am 60, but I realize things used in the past will no longer work.

There is going to be one winning group and one losing group. Zero sum game, which means we are at a disadvantage and playing by Repuke rules.

So people on our side need to get ready to deal with radical changes.

With that people like Manchin and Sinema can’t be used as leverage. Telling people we need to vote in more Dems and wait for solutions won’t work. Next time one of the clowns holds up the agenda they should be given two options. Get on board or get the fuck out. Option two means we are going to tear you down. Manchin has plenty of skeletons. No damn reason to negotiate.

We can be relegated to permanent minority party trying to appease these types or brawl every damn day. It is the only way to win.

I have (had) two flags that fly at my house - US and CA flag

For $20 I got Solar Lights that attach to the poll and keep the flags lit when the sun goes down.

The US flag got a bit tangled so I had to reach up to pull it down. Need my ladder to put it back up. The ladder is literally five feet from the flag. All I have to do is open it up, climb up two steps and put the US flag back up.

Since Monday night I just can't muster up the effort to put it back up.

Look at it every day this week, but I just can't.

June 22nd 2022 - Inform a Republican Day

Tomorrow we should all commit to talking to a Republican.

Let’s face it, Fox News and hate radio isn’t going to inform them. Your average Repub is going to tune into Fox or hate radio and hear Democrats and Liberals are killing babies, letting immigrants in that kill your families, groom your children to be something other. Jan 6 focus from the RW media will only be on how it is unfair that serial abuse enabler Gym Jordan isn’t on the committee.

We should all reach out to at least one. Focus on Republicans attempt to kill democracy and/or Elected Repubs refusing to enact gun laws that we all want.

I will let some of our fine experienced wordsmith DUers post some options for text that is non threatening. Then we give it a shot, see what kind of feedback we receive.

Liz dropped the proverbial turd in the punch bowl

Well played! Scott Perry was the first turd. The genius part, she just dropped one turd. Said there were other repukes, created a cliff hanger. So tonight there are multiple pukes with puckered asses. Biggs, Gosar, Jordan, sleep well assholes.

Also she made a point of saying Kevin McCarthy was 'scared.' A big FU to Kevin. In Repuke/Foxese, she called him a pussy.

Anyone paying Caregiver or Nanny

Looking at options for MiL. From quick review this morning it does not seem that paying and 1099 caregivers is doable and the only "above board" process is to W2 employees.

Any thoughts for others that are paying for in home care?

People need to wrap their heads around this immediately

They won’t come out and directly, but the message is clear. Their need for guns is for one reason. To protect themselves from a tyrannical government.

Their definition of a tyrannical government, anyone elected who is not a Republican.

California costs too much! Let's compare it to Texas

My youngest daughter has a burr up her butt to buy a place. Not the best time, trying to get her to hold off a bit as she is young, single, and may have other job opportunities that require a move. She is looking in North San Diego County, and things aren't cheap. The cost and her impatience are driving her to look elsewhere. One city she keeps exploring is Dallas. She found a house in Dallas, comparable to a town home in SD County she is interested in. 600k house in Dallas, comparable to 700k townhouse in CA.

Now she will need me to help with down payment along with mortgage, basically 50/50 partners, she also knows there is no way I will invest one damn cent in TX. So quickly compared the numbers for her. The Texas house is 100k cheaper, but yearly taxes are higher and utility bills will be higher. As the Orange turd and repubs put a cap on SALT deductions she would immediately hit the cap with mortgage/property taxes and likely have about 15k a year that is NOT deductible. (same in CA, but the number is a bit lower)

Utilities would be more in TX. In CA new builds require solar so she would have a 10k investment in solar upfront. (possible to roll it into mortgage) and have much lower utility payments per year. Guessing around 2k per year.

Then I hit her with a real life comparison, the cost/return on my house in SoCal compared the cost of our good friends house in Dallas suburbs. Both houses were bought in 1998. My house was 50 to 75k more. Housing size, mine a bit bigger, maybe 100 to 200 sq ft. Lot size, basically the same. With the extra cost of property tax and utilities, our good friends likely paid slightly more per year.

But here is the big difference. My house has appreciated over $1,000,000 more over the time frame as compared to our friends in TX. That is over 40k per year! Almost $3,500 per month of opportunity costs to have the privilege (misfortune) to live in Texas.

I am all good with people living where they want, my good friend became a RW tRump lover, started out middle of the road, but 35 years in Texas changed him. The point is, and the point I was making to my daughter, they paid (more correctly cost themselves) a whole lot of money by living in the "better run," "less expensive," Texas. Both descriptions are laughable.

Now to stop her from claiming things may change, I ended with this quote. “If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell” ― General Philip Henry Sheridan

That was a quote from the 1860's - nothing has changed. And the CA economy is going to implode B.S., been hearing it for almost 50 years. Over that time frame, the CA GDP continued to rise, rose to the point that currently we would be a G7 Country if we were a Country. Fifty years ago, I believe we would have just cracked the top 20.

Texas is the poster child for Low cost of entry (barriers to entry) Easy to get into, but the profit margins are low.

Is it me having too much hope - Uvalde seems to be a bit different

Only watching MSNBC so not sure if CNN is taking the same tact, but there is much more focus on interviewing family. Displaying the toll on the survivors. Some very sad, some pissed, all understandable and I think it will make it harder for some of the B.S. the ignorant gun humpers and politicians try to peddle.

Sandy Hook had the great group of kids and parents and after awhile it became easier for the asshole politicians and Fox to belittle the survivors. Just getting the feeling now that someone is going to try that and get punched in the face on live TV.
