I was terrified...

...when Trump won last year that he would do something smart.

The smart thing would've been to do nothing. Forget tariffs, forget mass deportation, forget the J6 pardons, forget the massive tax welfare giveaway to the 1%. I was terrified that he would get in office, see the Biden economy humming along (which the Economist magazine truthfully called "The Envy of the World" in its October 19, 2024, special report) and do nothing.

I was terrified that he would sit back, take credit for the Biden economy and even watch prices fall under his watch. I shuddered at the thought of him creeping up to 50% approval. When he made conciliatory noises on election night and almost sounded like a normal president (for all of 13 seconds) it sent shivers down my spine.

But thankfully, this leopard, not only doesn't change his spots, he eats his voters' faces. Which is what he went on to do...he is too proud, too stupid, too evil, too amoral, too narcissistic, to sit back and do the smart thing.

Yes, these are some of the darkest times the USA has ever seen, but I for one, am glad that it isn't even worse, had he done the smart thing. It's too late now, as he has broken every campaign "promise" that he made to his gullible rubes who f***ed around and are finding out, every day that he is in office.

I have been a lurker since 2003 or 2004. DU helped me survive the Bush Presidency (little did I know that something amazing would follow the disastrous Bush Presidency and that something even worse would follow Obama's 8 successful years in the White House). I joined DU last year when Biden dropped out of the race (Thank you Joe! He was the first candidate I ever voted for in a Presidential primary in 1988) and I became Star member. I love this community and as my name says I am a Dem for Life.
