https://twitter.com/HaganforHouse/status/958054573591138304Mallory was one of the contestants spoken about in the Miss America leaked email scandal last year where members of the organization weight-shamed her.
This is a heavily Republican district but parts of it did trend blue for Doug Jones. Mallory grew up in the district in Opelika and has attended Auburn University which is also in the district. This was one of the few districts that didn't yet have a challenger. Go Mallory!
Joy Reid goes below the belt, Jane Sanders responds
I know a lot of people like Joy Reid on here, and she's done some solid work, but this was low, dirty, and beneath the dignity of a news reporter. Hopefully she apologizes for bringing Bernie's wife into some theory she has- and since she doesn't speak to or know the Sanders family on that level, I'm curious as to where she's getting her info from. This kind of crap is not helpful when we need to be unified for 2018.

Cruz says he hates the elimination of the SALT deduction provision yet he'll vote for the bill anyways.

Rumblings of some House Dems starting an Antitrust Caucus!
https://twitter.com/linamkhan/status/930910235144998913This is exciting! Some trust-busting is just what we need right now to stop some of these corporate mergers. And I think it could be a strong message on the campaign trail.
Medicaid expansion wins in Maine!!
32nd state to approve and the 1st state through ballot initiative. Hopefully, this inspires other states to put it on the ballot. I'm so happy to wake up to this news this morning. Proud Mainer here!
The vote makes Maine the 32nd state to agree to expand Medicaid to thousands of low-income adults who qualify for coverage and represents a major setback for Republican Gov. Paul LePage, an ally of President Donald Trump who vetoed expansion bills on five occasions. The measure was winning 59 percent to 41 percent with roughly two-thirds of precincts reporting as of 10 p.m., according to the Associated Press, just weeks after Republicans in Congress failed in their efforts to repeal the health care law.
The ballot measure, known as Question 2, attracted progressive activists from around the country eager to revive expansion efforts in the mostly GOP-led holdout states. Liberal groups poured more than $1.5 million into boosting the Maine referendum, surpassing the opposition effort led by LePage and his Republican allies.
Some 80,000 adults will qualify under the expansion, according to independent estimates from a Maine legislative fiscal office, adding to the nearly 12 million people in the 31 states and District of Columbia who have already obtained coverage through the program.

Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) to retire from Congress
Lost in the VAGov & NJGov races, but this is good news for us!
LoBiondo cited committee term-limits for his departure, but the 12-term incumbent also took parting shots at partisan gridlock in Congress.
"There is no longer middle ground to honestly debate issues and put forward solutions," LoBiondo said in a statement. "... Those of us who came to Congress to change Washington for the better through good governance are now the outliers. In legislating, we previously fought against allowing the perfect to become the enemy of the good. Today a vocal and obstinate minority within both parties has hijacked good legislation in pursuit of no legislation.
LoBiondo said that his decision isn't "electoral" and that he was "very confident voters would again reelect me" in 2018 had he decided to run for reelection.
The decision opens a battleground district in southern New Jersey that LoBiondo has held easily since 1994. New Jersey's 2nd District backed President Donald Trump with 50.6 percent of the vote to Hillary Clinton's 46 percent in 2016. But former President Barack Obama also won the seat twice with between 53 and 54 percent of the vote.
