Interesting Letter to the Editor we ran yesterday

This was in the Bonner County Daily Bee, edition of 2-28-21:

As the mother of two Eagle Scouts, I am fussy about flag etiquette. Here are some do's and don'ts for our flag.

1. Do not place any other flag more prominently than the American flag. No politician or cause supersedes the United States flag.

2. Never bastardize the flag for your political beliefs like changing the colors. It is not gray with a blue, red or any other color stripe. It is red, white and blue.

3. Do not display the flag with the Stars and Bars. The Virginia Confederate flag is about the destruction of the United States. That is its history.

4. Never use the flagpole of the US flag to try to beat a capital police officer to death while chanting "Shoot him with his own gun."

5. Never cut the American flag down off of the Capitol and throw it to the ground as insurrectionists cheer.

6. Never try to replace the US Capitol's flag with a Trump flag.

What happened on Jan. 6 was the culmination of an anti-democract, anti-American movement that has been building in our area for a while. It was not liberals in Trump hats that disgraced our flag. It was people who believe that only they should have a vote, and with Trump's lies and hateful words ringing in their ears, they were willing to spill blood to make Trump king.

Any politician or person that does not condemn that day is not an American let alone an American patriot.

On edit: I didn't write this letter, but I printed it. One of my duties at the newspaper is to write occasional articles, so if I write anything it will go in a different part of the paper.

So much for "guns prevent crime"

https://www.rawstory.com/shooting/?utm_source=push_notifications

To make things as short as possible, some fucking idiot walked into Jefferson Gun Outlet, Metairie, LA, pulled out a pistol with extended magazine, and started shooting up the place. He killed two people, turned around and left. Then a bunch of the other customers in the store chased after him and blew his shit away.

The ADA demands a special construction bill for the gravesites of Limbaugh and Trump

To avoid even the appearance of discrimination against persons in protected classes, the graves of Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump must be equipped with a building of at least 80 square feet, with proper lighting, devices that neutralize foul aromas, climate control and ventilation, that is equipped with two ADA-compliant toilets, one ADA-compliant sink, grab bars and stall doors. The discharge piping of these toilets should be directed onto the ground somewhere between 12 and 18 inches from the base of the decedent's headstone.

Not providing such a structure opens state and federal governments to expensive, unwinnable class action lawsuits by women and disabled persons who would like to piss on Rush and Trump's graves, but due to physical challenges or lack of penises will not be able to.

Note to all: Do not eat asparagus before paying your respects at Limbaugh's grave

There will be hundreds of other mourners there to do the same thing you are. It would be completely unfair to all those nice people to stink them out.

I am sad about Limbaugh's death

...sad in that Bartcop didn’t live to see it.

Bartcop was a liberal blogger who lived in Oklahoma. He started his blogging career by ripping apart Limbaugh on a site named “Rush Limbaugh Lying Nazi Whore.” Then he branched out into dealing with other Republicans on “Bartcop.com”. BC died of cancer during the Obama years and never enjoyed the thrill of ripping Trump apart.

I believe that if Limbaugh would have died before BC, Terry would have grave-danced so hard Tulsa would be five feet lower than it is now.

The only consolation is that Limbaugh lived long enough to see America throw Trump out on his ear.

The Biden Administration needs to attach a condition to aid...

...for the disaster going on down there. The condition is they reconnect to the national grid by July 4. If they were on the grid now they wouldn’t be as bad off as they are now.

Should they go after the Army over the Native American tribal names on its aircraft?

In 1947, the US Army made General Hamilton Howze the head of Aviation.

Then the Army bought two helicopter types, and named one of them Hoverfly and the other Dragonfly. General Howze hated those names, and decided to name them after their ability to "attack enemy flanks and fade away." He knew that Native American tribes fought that way during the American Indian Wars, so he decided to name helicopters after Native American tribes.

The first heli so named under General Howze was the H-13, which was used to fly patients to MASH units in Korea. He named it the Sioux, after the warriors who won the Battle of Little Bighorn.

Then came these aircraft:

Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe, named after a chief of the Wyandot tribe whose nickname was "The Crane"
Bell UH-1 Iroquois, which is more popularly known as a Huey
Boeing Vertol CH-47 Chinook
Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk
Hughes/McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing (Hughes Helicopters was bought by McDonnell-Douglas, which was bought by Boeing) AH-64 Apache
Airbus Helicopters UH-72 Lakota, an Airbus Helicopters EC145 painted green
Grumman OV-1 Mohawk, the only Army aircraft to feature ejection seats and they were definitely needed
Hughes/McDonnell-Douglas/MD Helicopters OH-6 Cayuse, also known as a Loach or a Little Bird, a militarized Hughes 500
Bell OH-58 Kiowa, a militarized (by painting it green and quadrupling the price) Bell Jet Ranger
Beechcraft U-21 Ute, a Beechcraft King Air 90 painted gray
Beechcraft C-12 Huron, a Beechcraft King Air 200 painted gray (apparently someone in Army aviation really likes the Wyandot tribe; Huron is another name for that tribe)

The only Army aircraft not named for a Native American tribe is the Bell AH-1 Cobra, which was originally named by its manufacturer the "HueyCobra" - the Army dropped the "Huey" part because, while it uses the same engine, transmission and rotor assembly as the Huey, it looks nothing like one.

So...should the Army rename all its aviation assets?

Partial list of lawyers who rejected Trump

WASHINGTON (Spurious News Network) - As the unprecedented second impeachment of disgraced former president Donald Trump draws near, the defendant is finding it slightly difficult to retain legal counsel.

Spurious News Network reporters have discovered a list of attorneys who have refused to represent Mr. Trump before the Senate. This list is not all-inclusive.

SAUL GOODMAN: Mr. Goodman regrets not being able to participate in such a high-profile case, but claims that the defendant is "too big of a scumbag even for me."

VINCENT LaGUARDIA GAMBINI: Refuses to take the case as it's all too obvious the defendant is guilty. Also says the case is unwinnable.

DAVE KLEINFELD: Says he only represents "honest mobsters."

PERRY MASON: Refuses to work for clients with the history of nonpayment Trump has.

HAMILTON BURGER: Says this one's out of his league because there's no chance of dragging the wrong man into court in this case. Also, he's a prosecutor rather than a defense attorney.

FLETCHER REEDE: Believes this one to be an open-and-shut case no matter how much he lies.

JACOBY & MEYERS: Says they don't need this kind of publicity.

TOM HAGEN: Says he'd be willing to do it but he's otherwise occupied for the next three to five years.

DANIEL KAFFEE: Tried plea-bargaining this one down to "fighting words." It didn't work.

FRITO PENDEJO: Actually agreed to take the case. Trump fired him after he asked this question: "You tried to overthrow the government and kill Congress? Why'd you do that? You're not guilty? That's not what the other lawyer said."
