Upthevibe's JournalCommon sense gun laws.........
A friend of mine (who's I'm currently working for/with in Tx. over the summer) is a wonderful progressive.
She's educated and while she doesn't keep up with political events the way I do, she's quite informed.
She's been an advocate of common sense gun laws, has volunteered with a variety of organization, had made financial contributions, etc. A couple of times she said that she wished some of the laws (guns) had been passed when President Obama was first elected and had both The House and The Senate. I tell her I would think that they probably did everything they could.
Having said that, I'm not exactly sure what happened during that time. I have mentioned to her it was only a two year period (1/20/09-1/3/10) that he has both chambers.
Also, there was soooooooo much happening during that period.
Do you guys have any information about any what was happening with gun law reform during that time?
Thanks for any links and feedback...
Barbie blew my mind............
OMG!
I'd heard good things and it exceeded my expecations many times over.
The message is simply amazing........I don't know what else to say......... (The crying is an epiphany, major feeling of depth cry)...........
Has anyone ever used a tax relief/negotiating
organization?
A good friend of mine owes between $30-40,000 for last year because she sold her condo and she mishandled the tax situation.
Thanks for any input/advise you can give.
I need suggestions for Novellas......
I'm very excited that I'll have a long-term teaching assignment (one month) for 11th graders starting in October!
I'm a permanent substitute teacher (as of 2019 when I left the career college arena) for an amazing high school! It's probably one of the most progressive schools in the entire state of California, and I just love it there.
The 11th grade English Literature teacher is going on paternity leave when his wife has their baby (due 10/6/23). He and I had a wonderful discussion yesterday and we really want the books to be engaging for the students. He's 0 for 2 in terms of the books he's chosen the past two years (Farenheit 451 and 1984- the kids just weren't into them).
We're going to have several selections so they can choose which book interests them. We'll probably have around six groups of five per group (he has four classes with around 30 students per class).
We definitely want books that are only around 100-150 pages. The theme is resilience. We're also going to require them to have several real-world comparison texts/articles that are in alignment with what they're reading.
I apologize that my post is so long but I just wanted to explain the situation.
Soooooooooooo................... I'd love to hear any of your suggestions!

Dallas - Reiki Practitioner..
Hi Everyone
Does anyone have a Reiki Practitioner they can recommend in the Dallas area? I want to gift a friend of my friend's who's been very helpful.
I'm in Texas working over the summer (I'll be back home in California in September). I know I can google it but I thought DU'ers might have some personnel recommendations.
Thank you!

Mini-series, Painkiller....
Wow.........I thought it was riveting....
It was very different than Dopesick because of how the storyline was structured.
I was expecting to be disappointed but was very, very impressed.
