Whooopss..Chris Christie's the latest WH Covid victim

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/03/politics/chris-christie-coronavirus/index.html

(CNN)Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who helped President Donald Trump prepare for the first presidential debate earlier this week, has tested positive for Covid-19, he announced on Twitter Saturday.

"I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19," Christie wrote. "I want to thank all of my friends and colleagues who have reached out to ask how I was feeling in the last day or two. I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition."
Christie was among a group of senior Trump campaign staffers who were tested Friday following news of the President's positive diagnosis.

Dave Aronberg on Morning Joe: All the talk re: what can happen is to discourage & demoralize Dems

the Atlantic article suggesting what may happen https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/11/what-if-trump-refuses-concede/616424/

influencing trump-supporting electors, etc. is to prevent voters from voting, essentially saying all this will happen so why even bother. Aronberg, State Attorney for Palm Beach County FL, said best thing is get out & VOTE. He doesn't seem too concerned about it.

I agree. Let's not make all the noise discourage & distract us. We do what we can within our control: VOTE!
The Repugs cannot break the will of the people.

Exeter woman votes topless after anti-Trump shirt disallowed

https://www.seacoastonline.com/news/20200909/exeter-woman-votes-topless-after-anti-trump-shirt-disallowed

EXETER – A woman voting at Tuesday’s primary found an unorthodox way of protesting the town moderator, who ruled her T-shirt was a form of electioneering: She took it off and voted topless.

Town Moderator Paul Scafidi said the woman walked into the Talbot Gymnasium in the afternoon wearing a “McCain Hero, Trump Zero” T-shirt. As a ballot clerk was checking her name off the voter list, Scafidi said he informed the woman she could not wear a shirt with a political candidate featured on it while she voted. Scafidi said another woman nearby was wearing a T-shirt supporting the American flag and the woman with the “Trump Zero” shirt questioned why she was being singled out, which escalated into a brief argument.

State law states no person, “shall distribute, wear, or post at a polling place any campaign material,” in part, and if convicted, is subject to a fine up to $1,000.
“She asked why her and not me?” Scafidi said. “I said she was going to have to cover her shirt and (a shirt) supporting the American flag was not electioneering. That’s my opinion, and that was my call as the moderator.” Scafidi said at that point, the woman asked him if he wanted her to take her shirt off, despite not wearing anything underneath.

“I said, I’d rather she not,” Scafidi said. “But she took it off so fast, no one had time to react so the whole place just went, ‘woah,’ and she walked away, and I let her vote. She could’ve just gone into the hallway and turned it inside-out.”

New Hampshire’s public indecency law states an individual can be found guilty of indecent exposure and lewdness if the person “fornicates, exposes his or her genitals, or performs any other act of gross lewdness under circumstances which he or she should know will likely cause affront or alarm.”

Scafidi said he did have the authority to have police remove the voter under the indecency law, but he did not want to see the incident escalate further. He said she put her shirt back on as soon as she stepped out of the voting booth and cast her ballot.
“I could have (had her removed), but I didn’t want to exacerbate the whole thing,” Scafidi said. “I don’t know if she was trying to have me get her arrested, but I thought it was better to just let things play out. I don’t think there were more than 15 voters in the building at the time and if there were any children there, I didn’t see them.”

“If she felt it was her right, more power to her,” Scafidi said. “We all laughed about it as things were winding down, so I don’t know if it was a set-up, but I’ve never experienced anything like that. We had more important things to worry about; we had to get 2,000 people to vote safely, and check-in and count 2,000 absentee ballots.”

Opinions split on poll showing Trump support down in state
https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2020/jun/22/opinions-split-on-poll-showing-trump-support-down/?elections

Reason why i ask is weekend before last hubby & i just visited his parents who retired to a farm an hour north of Little Rock (they're 2 liberal doctors, not farmers, but raise horses). I had expected to see lots of pro-trump signs along the way, but surprisingly did not see even one, contrary to 2016 when there were lots.

Ouwie ouwie ouwie ouwie

Got my flu & 1st shingles shots. Shingles vaccination was painful as heck! Sorry im a wuss & needle averse

Anyhoo, while waiting @the drugstore i had on my sun visor w Biden 4 President button pinned smack in the middle, received several compliments about it from the people around me, including from the pharmacist. Made me think to myself if this is a sign of things to come - a change in the American psyche that this is our point of reckoning. I left the place in slightly more pain than when i entered it, but glad that the good folks i met all seemed they would be voting for Biden.

Quinnipiac University Poll: Biden leads Trump by 8 points in Pennsylvania, 3 in Florida

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/03/biden-leads-trump-pennsylvania-florida-408442

Democratic candidate Joe Biden leads Trump by 8 percentage points — 52 percent to 44 percent — among likely voters in Pennsylvania, according to a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University. That same poll shows Biden ahead by 3 points — 48 percent to 45 percent — in Florida, a lead that falls within the survey's margin of error.

The Quinnipiac poll is one of several released in recent days that show Biden has maintained his lead both nationally and in key swing states in the wake of last month's nominating conventions. Trump has denounced polls that show him trailing as "fake," recalling the 2016 election, when he similarly trailed in public polling but was victorious on election night.

In Pennsylvania and Florida, those polled overwhelmingly said they had made up their minds with little chance of changing who they support on Election Day. In Florida, 93 percent of respondents said they were sure of their choice, while 94 percent said so in Pennsylvania.

Among Biden supporters in both states, the majority said their choice was motivated by a distaste for Trump. In Florida, 64 percent of respondents backing Biden said it was because they disliked Trump, and 65 percent said the same among supporters in Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, 53 percent of Trump supporters in both states said their choice was motivated by an affinity for the president.

The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted from Aug. 28-Sept. 1, reaching 1,235 likely Florida voters and 1,107 likely Pennsylvania voters via both cellphone and landline. The margin of error for the Pennsylvania survey was plus or inus 2.8 percentage points and the margin of error for the Florida results was plus or minus 3 points.

This is great news. From 538 yesterday, Monmouth's poll yesterday had Biden's PA lead at only 3%.

Did i read this correctly: "When you take on the swamp, the swamp fights back"

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/rnc-trump-impeachment_n_5f49541ec5b697186e35dcc2

The impeachment trial of President Donald Trump seemed like it would have massive implications when it took place ― somehow only ― earlier this year. But among Trump’s most fervent supporters, it has served as a rallying cry. At the Republican National Convention this week, for example, speakers repeatedly brought up that their presidential candidate was nearly thrown out of office over corruption.
Rather than shirking away from the fact that Trump was one of only three U.S. presidents to be impeached, Republicans flaunted it to proclaim the president is perpetually and unfairly under attack.

“When you take on the swamp, the swamp fights back,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who has served in Congress since 2007, said Monday in a speech. “They tried the Russia hoax, the Mueller investigation, and the fake impeachment. But despite this unbelievable opposition, look what this president has accomplished.”

Sounds like an admission of guilt to me, calling your party the swamp?

and from the DOJ's own site: https://www.justice.gov/crt/voting-section
"federal law continues to protect citizens from discrimination in voting and from other voting rights violations".

I'm not a lawyer but hopefully this will help assuage some of our fears.

Judge Rules That Trump Rape Accuser E. Jean Carroll Can Go Ahead With Defamation Suit

Source: Daily Beast

A woman who alleges she was raped by President Donald Trump years ago can proceed with her defamation lawsuit against him, a New York judge has ruled. Trump had sought to delay the lawsuit from journalist E. Jean Carroll, who alleges the president defamed her when he said she was “totally lying” about the alleged rape. But Verna L. Saunders, a New York Supreme Court justice, wrote that Carroll’s lawsuit could move forward without delay. Carroll’s legal team can now proceed with its aim of acquiring Trump’s DNA, which they intend to compare to genetic material on the dress Carroll says she was wearing during the incident. The legal team also wants to interview Trump under oath, according to The Washington Post. Carroll alleges Trump raped her in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s—a claim the president has denied. Trump’s legal team is still able to appeal Saunders’ ruling.
