Nypost ee racist spree on newspaper's account: murder rape assassination

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/juliareinstein/new-york-post-employee-fired-racist-tweets

A New York Post Employee Was Fired For Posting Violent, Racist Tweets On The Newspaper's Account
Some of the tweets, which a spokesperson for the paper called "vile and reprehensible," called for President Joe Biden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to be murdered.

Violent and racist content that appeared on the New York Post's website and Twitter account Thursday morning were posted by one of the newspaper's own employees, a company spokesperson said.

The tweets, which were posted just after 9 a.m. and seen by BuzzFeed News, called for the murder of President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. Others mentioned "slaughtering illegals," joked about New York Gov. Kathy Hochul being "rape[d] and batter[ed]," and called New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is Black, a "fried chicken eating monkey."

Articles on the paper's website were tampered with as well. The headline of an op-ed about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was changed to "We must assassinate AOC for America," and its byline was edited to look like it was by right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro.

Political expert tells media to stop 'getting played' by Republican polling averages 'flooding the z

https://www.rawstory.com/2022-election-polls-republican/

Two major sources of the political rankings include RealClearPolitics and FiveThirtyEight, both of whom average out public polls done for campaigns.

According to Democratic political expert Simon Rosenberg, the polls they're pulling in to generate those averages are leaning more Republican, lending the averages to be skewed more conservative.

"There is a ferocious campaign GOP campaign right now to flood the zone with their polls, game the averages, declare the election is tipping to them," tweeted Rosenberg on Sunday. "No question they could win but the early vote and polling this week DO NOT confirm this trend. Sorry. "

45% Say U.S. Should Be a 'Christian Nation' But hold differing opinions about what that means

45% of Americans Say U.S. Should Be a ‘Christian Nation’
But they hold differing opinions about what that phrase means, and two-thirds of U.S. adults say churches should keep out of politics

For instance, many supporters of Christian nationhood define the concept in broad terms, as the idea that the country is guided by Christian values. Those who say the United States should not be a Christian nation, on the other hand, are much more inclined to define a Christian nation as one where the laws explicitly enshrine religious teachings.

Overall, six-in-ten U.S. adults – including nearly seven-in-ten Christians – say they believe the founders “originally intended” for the U.S. to be a Christian nation. And 45% of U.S. adults – including about six-in-ten Christians – say they think the country “should be” a Christian nation. A third say the U.S. “is now” a Christian nation.

At the same time, a large majority of the public expresses some reservations about intermingling religion and government. For example, about three-quarters of U.S. adults (77%) say that churches and other houses of worship should not endorse candidates for political offices. Two-thirds (67%) say that religious institutions should keep out of political matters rather than expressing their views on day-to-day social or political questions. And the new survey – along with other recent Center research – makes clear that there is far more support for the idea of separation of church and state than opposition to it among Americans overall.

This raises the question: What do people mean when they say the U.S. should be a “Christian nation”? While some people who say the U.S. should be a Christian nation define the concept as one where a nation’s laws are based on Christian tenets and the nation’s leaders are Christian, it is much more common for people in this category to see a Christian nation as one where people are more broadly guided by Christian values or a belief in God, even if its laws are not explicitly Christian and its leaders can have a variety of faiths or no faith at all. Some people who say the U.S. should be a Christian nation are thinking about the religious makeup of the population; to them, a Christian nation is a country where most people are Christians. Others are simply envisioning a place where people treat each other well and have good morals.

Home Depot's famous giant skeletons keep getting stolen from front yards

Owners of 12-foot skeletons from Home Depot are reporting thefts across the US.

The decorations regularly sell out long before Halloween and resell for well over regular price.

Home Depot advises victims of skeleton thefts to contact local police.

Home Depot's famous 12-foot skeletons have been hot Halloween decor for several years now, and now they're the victims of thefts across the US.

In August, one of the skeletons was stolen from a New Jersey home in the middle of the night, Fox29 reported. Shannon McKibban, the skeleton's owner, told the station that she heard it being dragged down her street after thieves removed the cinder blocks used to keep it in place.

Mount Ephraim police made an arrest in the case, and removed "parts" of the skeleton that were in the suspect's trunk, they said.
