Polls and turnouts - was the turn out in South Carolina depressed because

everyone thought they knew the outcome in advance?
I doubt that the results here would have changed if more people had voted, but low turn out could be a disaster in November.

What are the best jelly beans out there? I fell in love with one brand,

but apparently they're out of business. Are pectin eggs any better than the others? What do you say?

I have a bit of a hearing loss - which means I can listen to the radio,

but some words I mis-hear. So today I heard the high in Kansas was going to be 90 degrees. On checking, I think the high in Kansas today is going to be 70 degrees. That's still pretty warm for this time of year, but given the breakdown in weather patterns, 90 degrees didn't seem impossible. Welcome to the world of global climate change.

So - I'm headed to Washington for a week visiting my sister -

I wanted to see the Peacock Room, but it closed last month for renovations until next year.

So - what should I check out at the Smithsonian?

Turtleman better think before he doesn't act -

as it stands , if Scalia is replaced by the next President, that President will be

Trump or Cruz or Rubio or Clinton or Sanders - one of three fruitcakes or two Democrats- with Clinton the only one liable to nominate a moderate.

Stalling the nomination just makes this a major factor in the election.

Turtleman's best shot at getting a moderate on the Court is to go with Obama.

I have something to get off my chest about appearances -

I buy cheap freshwater pearls to make jewelry with. Naturally, I spotted Hillary's pearl choker and earrings that she wears at debates. If I walked into a store that sells stuff like that, I'd have trouble getting a clerk to show them to me (that is, if a security guard didn't escort the tourist out the store first). Even imitation pearls that size would be over-the-top for any venues I normally attend (grocery store, blue jean church).

Those pearls would certainly replace my 30+ year old kitchen and baths with whatever I could dream up. They might even buy my house.

I don't think we're talking jealousy here, just questioning whether someone who has gone from a lot of money to tons of money so quickly has a snowball's chance in hell of understanding what it's like to sit down with a paycheck and stack of bills every two weeks. At that, at least I can pay all my bills -I have employed hard working relatives who can't.

I know we're not supposed to judge on appearances, But I'll take Bernie's J.C. Penney suit over those pearlsany day of theweek.

If my grand kids can get free college and my kids get a break on their

Federal loans and Donald Trump pays his share of taxes, then I don't give two cents if his kid(s) get free college, too. If Donald is paying his taxes, why shouldn't his kids benefit. Means testing is a stealth method of taking programs away from the middle class while ensuring there isn't enough funding to aid the poor.

Does the under-30 crowd have a different view of Bill Clinton's

activities with Monica Lewinsky? I keep seeing comments along the lines that he took advantage of an intern with very poor judgment, or that what he did amounted to sexual harassment.
This is not meant bring up any right wing talking points, but to suggest that those who were kids or not even born when he was President have a very different view of him than many of us who were there.

We know about the soda - pop divide, but is there a donut divide out there, too?

I think some areas prefer cake donuts while others prefer fried donuts. I think Buffalo is for fried donuts and the rest of NYS goes for cake donuts.
