In one year as senator, Elizabeth Warren has accomplished more than

most who run for President accomplish... ever. (For the 99%, I mean)

She's helped to start turning the thing around. A strong, clear voice, The Truth.

I understand that makes a small group of loud Democrats mad as hell - they like things the way they are now. They're doing fine while the 99% burn.

Tough noogies. Change, real Change, is coming, whether you want it or not.

It's our turn; out of the way, knuckleheads!

Barney Frank thinks Warren will run for president

(crosspost from GD)

Barney Frank says he thinks Warren will run for president

(NECN) - Former Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank thinks Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will make a run for the White House.

"Oh, I think yes," said Frank when asked about it by the State House News Service in Massachusetts. "In the first place, why would you want to get into a profession and have no interest in rising to the top of it? I don't know anybody who has that."

I gotta say, this is quite fun

When I first joined DU, way back when, it was purely to vent. Bush was president and the Republicans had a majority in the House and apparently 60 seats in the Senate, because they pushed through any insane #%^+ they wanted, be it legislation or appointees.

It was utterly depressing. I'd get gloating emails from Republican acquaintances. Teh suxxor! as our kid used to say.

Things have changed. To be honest, things are economically far worse today for the 99% than they were back then, and there's no quantitative sign of them getting better. But the cavalry is coming, I think.

Elizabeth Warren (yes, yes, of course, she's not running etc.) too "far out" Liberal to have been elected to Congress 10 years ago, is now the acknowledged heart and soul of our party. She and some other good souls have stopped Larry Summers from another crack at skinning what's left of us little people, have effectively stopped the TPP, and are putting pressure on the DOJ to do something that hasn't been tried in years: bringing huge financial criminals to justice.

A book by that Pikkety fellow from France that screams "the job creators don't create jobs, they just steal your stuff" is now the toast of the Smart Set. Two years ago, the Set was focused like a laser beam on the need to starve the old, poor and infirm a little more responsibly strengthen the social safety net, so this is a step in the right direction.

Republicans are in full meltdown over the failure of Obamacare to end life on Earth, and by the appalling shenanigans of the "useful idiot" Tea Party they created. Their useful idiots have become ours. Tee-hee.

People are waking up. The bulk of us finally realize the Predator Class through their Smart Set lackeys, politicians and the press and such, administered a grand molten-lava enema to the rest of us while we were trying to just get through life, raise the kids, go to work, and do the stuff we were told that good people do.

Times have changed.

We have reached what we nerds call an inflection point. That's the part of the curve where things don't stop getting worse, but they start getting worse more slowly. There's the beginning of some restorative force that's slowing down the bad. Give it a little time, and it will start to turn genuinely upwards again.

So it will be bad for a while, it will even get worse for a while. But if we all pull together, keep our eyes open, heads high, elbows sharp, and vote for people who don't simply suck less, that curve will start going up again. And if history is any indication, it will go up for decades.

So hold on! It's coming!

Thanks, Obama.

The other day I was talking to an acquaintance who watches Fox News for hours a day, if you catch my drift. We were talking about health insurance, and the words slipped out of his mouth:

"Actually, Obamacare does make it easier for individuals to buy health insurance. Before that, people were really screwed if they needed a plan and weren't under a company plan."

Just as the utterance started to flow from his mouth, he realized that his audience was a flaming Liberal, and got this pained "Oh #$%@ I can't believe I'm saying this" look on his face. Priceless! Awesome!

While I have issues with Obamacare, and even larger ones with its gestation, I will say that it is becoming exquisitely effective at blowing today's Republican Party to smithereens. The elected crazies have left themselves unable to hold any position other than Obamacare is Satan's spawn and must die!, yet even hard-core Republicans realize it's here, the sky hasn't fallen, and some of it is helpful.

Boom!

There will be a bloodletting.

And in the end, blowing up today's Republican Party might be more important than anything else - as long as Democrats take advantage of it, of course.

Thanks, Obama!

Anyone know a great florist in DC?

I need to send a mess of flowers to Elizabeth Warren's office. I suspect that there are interesting issues to deal with when sending flowers to Congress and it would be good to coordinate with a local outfit.

Thanks!

GAME OVER, Warrenista Liberals!

As we all know, the lefty moonbats and I have come a long way together. It's not always been happy trails, but... well, but nothing, those people make everything suck. In any case, it's over for them, and good riddance. Yesterday, on national TV, their Queen Elizabeth, that difficult woman from Massachusetts, not only gave up her presumptuous run for president, she endorsed Hillary as the best presidential candidate ever, swore a blood oath of fealty to the Clinton family and the rest of Wall Street, and apologized for her general insolence towards America's bankers.

What a day!

Yes, I know this has been covered in other posts today by good DUers, but these might have been a bit confusing to you little people: it is difficult for the very-smart to understand which nuances will flummox the very-feeble-minded, and further, to explain those bits of subtlety in the small words needed for this audience.

So here I am.

And here's the epic exchange:

Interviewer: “Do you think Hillary Clinton would make a good president?”

Queen Elizabeth: “I think Hillary Clinton is terrific,... We gotta stay focused on these issues right now...”

There it is! Game over!

Now some of you might still be a little shell-shocked, and not quite "get it". (I get that: after so many months of worrying about that woman possibly ascending to even higher office, it's dizzying to believe that that our long national nightmare is over in a flash.) You're thinking:

"Now wait a second... Queen Elizabeth didn't actually answer the question! That sure sounds like a well-rehearsed polite non-answer, followed by a quick deflection of the conversation in another direction."

Hardly!

Well here's where I earn my (ample) pay: beyond being wise in the ways of finance, banking, and strengthening social safety nets, I'm also quite learned in the fields of psychology and communications. It turns out that there's a lot of research about what happens to narcissists at the moment they realize that the jig is up. (Don't look up that research, the NSA did it and only we insiders know about it.) And what we saw, my little friends, is exactly what happens. Warren simply crumbled, unable to answer a direct question.

Add this to the secret letter of encouragement to Hillary that Warren co-signed and the case is closed. As Roy Orbison sung, my vanquished Liberal friends, It's Over. (Actually, ELO did a song called It's Over, too. Both pretty good. I kinda think Orbison's mournful song is more appropriate in this case, but ELO will work too. But not without the orchestration, it would definitely suck a capella.)

Well, in any case, now that we don't have to live in constant fear that everything we've done to for you people in the last two decades is in jeopardy, we real Democrats can get back to the hard work of strengthening America.

We are the Champions!

Regards,

Third-Way Manny

One year later, everyone's an expert

A year ago, a couple of brothers caused serious mayhem in Boston. They had bombs that blew away lives and limbs. They shot a cop dead. It ended after a dragnet for one of the brothers, wounded, with thousands of law enforcement officers combing through houses. Politely. The (alleged) bad guy was captured alive, and there were no injuries or deaths from the dragnet.

As a local (lived about a mile from the grand finale at the time), I was pretty pleased and thankful for what our local cops accomplished. So was every other local I know, save for one who was on the fence.

A lot of second guessing these days about what our cops did. And I'm sure there was room for improvement. But I ask:

how often do situations like that work out as well as that one did?

Maybe I have selective memory, but I can't remember many. Maybe not any.

It worked. So give our police a little break, will y'all?

Snowden's revelations: thumbs up or down?

I'm not thrilled with everything that Snowden's done, but hell, I'm not thrilled with everything I've done.

All things considered, how are you feeling about Snowden's revelations? Would you prefer that they happened, or not?

For The Record: The NSA Spied on All Americans. It Is a Fact.

In clear contradiction of the plain meaning of the 4th amendment of our constitution. And they lied to Congress, and to us little people, about doing it.

And I'm really glad that I know they've been doing this. Because I think those are awful things to do, and that sunlight is an excellent disinfectant.

I'm also glad that President Obama is happy to have a conversation about this: I presume this means he was going to tell us, anyway, so we could have this conversation.
